Not entirely sure I like the sound of revanschism. If too strong it will only increase rigidity in the game mechanics, meaning a constant yoyo effect. If properly balanced, maybe okay

It's not meant to make nations unkillable, just not have every decisive defeat be the end of a nation. I think you guys are severely overestimating the effects.

Province interface in first screenshot does not show the smoking house button in previous dev diary with the Golden Horde. Conclusion: that was a Horde mechanic. Maybe razing?

Nice diary! I especially liked the part about development.

That's all for today. Next week we'll be talking about the Steppes and the Nomads that inhabit them.
Flash-forward to next week:

"Horde manpower bonus has been reduced to 15%/30%/55% instead of 25%/50%/75%"

What are the values of bonuses 100% Ravanchivism gives? We can see it gives 50% manpower recovery speed, what about other things? I understand it might change later but I'm just curious what are the values now.

Since I have no clue about the modifier involved, I agree I have very little to say about it except to voice my slight concern regarding it. My concern though is based around the fact/opinion/view that PDX have during the last handful of expansions and patches made changes to slow down expansion with various designs and I get the sneaking feeling this is another in that direction.

Lovely yet another barrier to move the capital overseas, 700 points seriously?

Revanchism: yet another clutch for the AI (lucky nation style) that goes well beyond the standard truce timer of 15 years, I would rather see the game development focused at making it better instead of the usual workarounds.

You underestimate the player, I think.

From how Wiz described it, Revanchism scales with the defeat suffered - so you only get the maximum bonus from it if you suffered a crushing 100% war score defeat - if you only suffered a 10% defeat, you only get 1/10 of the bonus (and it only decays in 1/10 the time?) so I think the potential for abuse is fairly minimal...

If it instead does what it seems designed for, which is to stop people dog-piling a beaten country into the ground, then all the better.

If you're willing to give up large tracts of core territory for a temporary modifier I don't think you're playing terribly optimally.
That depends on how temporary and how big the modifier. The +50% manpower recovery from the screen might be worth losing 100% WS of provinces, especially in distant overseas, if you get like a 25% average bonus for 10 years or so. Reconquest CB is a very fast way to regain the territory you lost and you don't get overextension, so in a WC game, where the point will come when you are most limited by OE, this could be exploitable. To see if it's really worth it, we'd need more info on the numbers, of course.

Lovely yet another barrier to move the capital, 700 points seriously? Why not 1245 for western nations?
700 is the maximum capital-move cost under the described changes.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you'd probably have to be close to the maximum historical extent of the Ottoman Empire for it to get that high.

Realy looking forward to the ingame achievement overlay. Wished that was there when i did all those achievements :D But well i hope you add tons of new ones, so that i can check it out.
Are you using the achievement.yml localisation files for it? They seem kinda useless at the moment, because steam don't use them and is showing all achievements in english whatever language you are using. Dunno why they even exist :3

100% of provinces in distant overseas is something like 30-50 provinces.

Lovely yet another barrier to move the capital, 700 points seriously?

Revanchism: yet another clutch for the AI (lucky nation style) that goes well beyond the standard truce timer of 15 years, why would rather see the game development focused at making it better instead of the usual workarounds.

700 adm at 1000+ development. Under what circumstances are you still moving capitals at that point?

700 is the maximum capital-move cost under the described changes.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that you'd probably have to be close to the maximum historical extent of the Ottoman Empire for it to get that high.
It is still too much; moving the capital overseas already had too many restrictions before a potential point’s increase of 350%. A typical sledgehammer balance change.

Edit: let us reach 100 dislikes, I have faith you guys can do it.
