I would love to get some estates for overseas provinces now. East India Company estate :)
That sounds...
AMAZING!
I haven't played a colonial game with the Cossaks so how do distant overseas provinces effect possible estates?
Replacing the trade companies with an estate sounds like a perfect thing to do with estates.

While the autonomy itself isn't a problem, the fact that we changed autonomy to be multiplicative resulted in some undesirable results like Nobility provinces actually reducing manpower if the country also had quantity.

Wait, that was a thing? .... I just barely missed 'A Decent Reserve' this patch... This makes me sad. :( good to see it get fixed though!

Overall a great update!

I actually liked how the estates worked so far but these all seems to be sensible changes.

However, on the topic of elective monarchy two annoyances remain.

First, election candidates are past retirement age too often because they've been on the "waiting list" too long. IMO the monarch should be created on election with randomly generated age between 20 and 50.
Second, trying to have "local candidate" elected is made doubly difficult and seems unfair because all the legitimacy (well, now prestige) you invest is lost when that candidate dies... but the same doesn't apply to foreign monarchies, their candidates "inherit" invested support...

Are you proposing something similar to how the old Curia worked?

Will the changes of diplomatic feedback somehow reduce the overall aggressiveness of nations , especially against opm or smaller nations? (for example the HRE situations where everything is swallowed by Austria and others , or Italian minors which disappear in a coule of decades)

Sorry if this has already been said, but I am experiencing weird graphical bugs that I never saw before the previous patch, like one advisor selection icon disappearing, idea page messed up, some option icons disappearing and so on. It happens after a couple hours of play. Did you find such bugs occuring and if yes, do you plan to fix them? The hotfix with the refresh rate (I think) didn't quite do it.

Also : Good idea for the Estates prestige style and excellent idea to make us able to change our priority before the AI break its alliances.

Correct. It can actually be very beneficial to give high autonomy provinces to Estates now.

For Balance I suggest you look at having the estate only negate the 25% autonomy it gives for that tax/prod/man group.
So Clergy would negate 25% autonomy to tax, not ALL autonomy from other factors. It can have the effect of autonomy not really being a big deal, which its supposed to be.

Obviously you'll have to run the math numbers. Perhaps adjust the global bonus's as well.
Either way, just make sure to do that math so I don't have to start another Estates Math Thread.

Edit: I did have fun with the math thread I made so it wasn't a burden or anything.

In my current playthrough I may have found the easiest way to deal with estates: revoke all provinces, keep their influence to the minimum at all costs and otherwise ignore them. As a result cumulative effect of not having high autonomy and no possibility of large revolt severely outweighs little bonuses and maluses estates give to you. For example, I completely removed clergy estate from all provinces. The only negative side effects are some tax efficiency maluses (easily mitigated through ideas, councillors and policies) and "Unhappiness within the clergy" event which promises huge revolts... in provinces controlled by clergy (i.e. zero) with some easily mitigated hit to stability.

In short: there's no real incentive to cooperate with estates for me, except for burghers because those are much less demanding. Perhaps bonuses and maluses from interaction with estates should be more prominent while events would be far less random (+20 influence... really?).

I like the benefits far too much to do this.

wiz, anyone in team, no disrespect, bit of sarcasm, but damn you for not fixing the game for christmas and still making released game with no solution to this problem, reported weeks ago, not even mentioned once, ruining/halting my game with no solution in sight.

Whenever someone says "no disrespect" it's a sure sign their next comment is disrespectful.

You're understandably frustrated, but cursing Paradox like that is just juvenile.

The elective changes are great but I doN't get the estates changes. So now if I grant the nobility a province, it will give 120% of its manpower to the total pool regardless of the autonomy in that province?

I think this are fantastic ideas. I would suggest to have the idea groups permanently increase the loyalty of certain estates to a new resting point. This would get you into the "bonus range" more often, speeding up loyality recovery and slowing decay. I think there are several ideas were a little buff would fit. e.g. (meant as additive bonuses to ideas)
  • Innovative / Resilient State: +5 loyalty to all estates (one of the weakest individual ideas in the game so far)
  • Religious / Church Attendance Duty: +5 clergy loyalty (Religious is quite strong already)
  • Aristocratic / Noble Resilience: +5 nobility loyalty
  • Plutocratic / Free Subjects: +5 burghers loyalty
While you are at it: Please consider working Estate-effects into the Dutch Republic, changing Nobility/Burghers loyalty and/or influence depending if the Organgists or Statists are in power (and maybe give me Dutch-English-Trade war flavor event).
