Well, that didn't really go how I imagined it might.
First off, thank you Johan for the coalition war, I really should pay more attention to what the call to arms text is saying. As we'd planned to deal with the northern French nations I just assumed it was a war against them, not a coalition with all of the AI nations around both of us. I ended up losing my AI allies because of that war, even though I got out it without losing anything more than ducats.
Then there was Friduric, now I had no initial plans to attack him, he was after all a larger nation and we were discussing not fighting each other even though he rivaled me. Turns out that the diplomacy meant little, as he pounced on me shortly after the coalition war fired, leaving me in three wars with half my army destroyed. Luckily there had been some pre-game diplomacy with Bratyn, so I had an ally I hadn't actually allied yet, to call in and help. Plus Carlberg wanted to knock Friduric down a bit too, no one likes a big neighbor.
In the end, it worked out all right, seven loans, five percent corruption, zero manpower and down to 14,000 troops, was a small price to pay to win that war.
I obviously have plans for next session, Johan allying Katsina was surprising, but there are other AI to beat on still, plus some other things. I don't imagine my position will last though, there are finite routes of expansion for me before water gets in the way and I didn't take any ideas to help with having a strong navy. So I think others will grow much stronger than me very soon.
Absolutely did not see the Imse/Starnan deal coming though, was totally naive to that maneuver and really curious to see how that plays out. Here I was hoping for a strong German nation to act as a buffer against the Eastern players, but that doesn't look like it will happen now they are in cahoots.
