Quit watching early this week in disgust. This is really dumb; the entire world against the Germans just throws the game to Delhi/Japan/Brazil. At the start of the war, Commonwealth was 3rd place and right now, since most of the fighting has happened in their land, they're like 6th or 7th. This isn't fun or interesting to watch. Where's the Sunrise Invasion of Italy that Kaiser swore? Where's Hungary making good on their goal to become Celestial Emperor? It's the Age of Revolutions, but we have no fun times with the Revolution. Instead we just have the people who are already set to win trophies using the entire world as patsies to fight the Germans, who have played great games and survived with their original nations in the central European thunderdome.

Just leaves a sour taste in my mouth.

It's boring because it is so predictable. The outcome was never in doubt because it was simply a war of attrition. Any time there is every country in the world agsint any "hug box" the same thing happens.

This session was brutal, but honestly the losing side didn't lose all that much.

The new victory cards look like a bunch of fun though. It's poked more holes in the Indian alliances, and the German group.

You can definitely manage it. Not killing everyone around you, not intervening in other peoples wars etc. I understand it's part of the game but if you ignore the diplomatic repercussions from your actions this kinda thing will happen.
Exactly what happened had it not happened would the "hug box" not have been attacked. Nothing. This would have happened no matter what. What the "hug box" did wrong is they did not broaden their alliances to people they helped in the past.

Emotions are not "managed".

You don't think they could have talked to KJ or anyone else that got stabbed by the Italians to bring them into the fold? I think you're giving them a pass for not bothering to broaden their alliance. Does Wiz not deserve some credit for bringing all these past enemies together? I'm pretty sure StarNaN wouldn't have gotten involved if the PLC didn't intervene and ruin Switzerland. Same goes for Brazil and Andalusia if Prussia doesn't step in last session. Emotions are managed by not giving a people a reason to be emotional i.e. going out of your way to make enemies.

What a war.

Seems Kaiser got a relatively easy VC. He needs to get part of Småland from Benin and then to get Gotland. And Gotland is occupied by rebels, so that might defect. Otherwise he needs to fight Prussia for it, which won't be easy.

Maybe. Hindsight is 20/20. I'm not in their minds. I remain skeptical that the "hug box" would not have been dismantled no matter what. This is why I think not expanding the hug box was their only mistake.
