So... just out of curiosity, does Delhi betraying Gujarat have anything to do with the Historical Oddity dev clash when @Meneth turned on @Trin Tragula and consumed Great Tragulia?
In that dev clash we were always purely allies of convenience. I think that was pretty clear to both sides, though I'll let Trin attest to that (or deny that).

That's unlike say, my alliance to Bratyn that campaign, which was explicitly a permanent alliance.
My understanding is that the Delhi-Gujarati alliance had been communicated as a permanent alliance, but I can't say that for sure since I was only subbing.

Anyway, from talking to Trin, this betrayal would've happened regardless of whether Gujarat had a substitute or not.

The alliance was not talked of in permanent terms as far as I perceived it at least. It was more of an riginally temporary cooperation that kept giving us both great results.
We were always much more individual in our diplomacy and actions than is common for the dev clash alliances, for instance I had no idea Gujarat would grab land in Arabia or Egypt (or even heading north into the campaign) until after it happened.

That said since it had lasted so long, and since we did coordinate in a lot of wars I’m sure expectations must’ve shifted over time.
I would certainly agree that this was a backstab by Delhi, and one that that would have happened even without @Meneth in charge. :)

Also since I have never gone for VCs on allies in the past it felt like it could be nice to shake things up a bit.
I’m sure I will pay a price for it in the end ;)

Featured Below, This document, sold to us by Dnote is supposedly the constitution of the peasant's republic of Dithmarschen circa 1644. It was found with a post-it note attached saying "don't forget to update for native clan council"

The ends always justifies the means. We take one step backwards only to leap ten more ahead!

By whatever means necessary, Comrade..!

The state's ambassador would like to issue a small correction: our ruler has been styling himself "Emperor" for a couple decades now, and the so-called "Dutch Tribute" is a myth, we merely received some war subsidies during the Great Treason to fight the Northern Powers.
This days we are simply taking advantage of the lack of competition from Dutch merchants, their country being too focused annexing the land gained in the Norwegian Scotland Purchase Pact.
