EU4 Demo no sound: just me?

EU4 demo, and also CK2, have no sound when I play. The only fix I have found for CK2 is to turn my speaker quality to cd level and since the game engine in EU4 is the same, or remarkably similar to, CK2 I seem to be encountering the same problem. Is there any way for me to fix this problem without having to change my speaker settings every time I want to play> This does not happen with Victoria2 or Hearts of Iron 3 so I'm really not sure what is going on :/
