EU4 crashes every time i load up my Cloud saves...

Can anyone help? All my saves are ironman and thus on Steam Cloud, so I cant seem them.

You could move those out, use that post to delete them from the cloud, then just move the ones you really want back in.

This is still a problem, at least 50% of the time game crashed when i click on Cloud saves.

I tried the solution above, but my save doesn't seem to appear when i place it in the saved games section when i've loaded the game

Put them into your Steam sync dir (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\46421531\236850\remote\save games), close the game, restart Steam, have them uploaded to Cloud by Steam, and then load them from the game from there.

I'm having a similar CTD-problem on my PC, despite the game isn't in ironman-mode.

What I discovered, is that several of the diplomatic options the player has, are somehow not present in the cloud save. When using the auto-save; which is stored at my PC, since storing them at the cloud caused a CTD as well; I can continue playing without a problem.

@ Jamy30: Perhaps it's worth a try to check your diplomatic options when selecting your cloud-save and checking them again the moment the game is loaded?

It seems the diplomatic options are still there.

Also when i move my cloud saves in to the normal save files folder they don't seem to appear once i load the game?
I thought that's a bit weird as the file types are the same (eu4)

Also i dont want to have to move my steam saves all the time... I want to be able to unlock achievements

Cloud saves are different, yes, they are encoded, so it doesn't surprise me that they aren't recognised as proper saves when in the wrong place.

I wasn't saying to put them into your normal save game directory, but the one the game uses to sync them up to Steam - did you go through what I said in post #4 above exactly? BTW are these saves Ironman or not?

To spell it out in more detail what I'm suggesting for you, to recover as many saves as possible, is:

- find the local copies of your Cloud saves - how many are there?
- use the technique in here to clear out all the saves from the cloud itself
- upload your local saves that you found above, to Steam cloud using the technique in post #4 above

yeah they're all Ironman... so I really want to be continuing them on the Cloud to be honest.

after reading your comments again, the problem isn't that I can't see my cloud saves, because on the rare occasion the game doesnt crash when i click on Cloud Saves they always appear.

The problem is EU4 crashes a few seconds after i click on Cloud Saves.

I don't seem to be expressing myself very clearly! The local copies of your Ironman saves are visible in your local file system by using plain old Windows Explorer, I'm not talking about in the game. So check into them first, hopefully most or all of your Ironman games have a local file still.

Then delete all of them from the Cloud as I detailed above , then upload the local files to the Cloud.

I'm having the same problem, wiping the cloud and replacing it with the local files works.

However, in my case the problem persists when i close the game. The cloud gets corrupt, and i'd have to wipe it again to access my savegames. Is there any way to figure out which savegame is corrupted?

Not having had this issue myself, I'm just guessing what will work for you. have you tried just clearing out one save at a time?

I was afraid the answer is smth like that (i have quite a few saves)

However, it worked. Had to go all the way tough, as my most recent campaign caused the issue. Which raises another question for me: Any hints how a savegame gets corrupt? They are all ironman so i can't really mess it up myself by changing something in the files or via console.

Well, file corruption has numerous possible causes, anything from local hardware faults to bad comms to problems within Steam. And yes, possible game bugs. How to tell which of those caused your particular problem I have no idea, I'm sorry.
