Nah, don't do an early release, just let us buy it early. Early release would just get people raging about whatever bugs are there on release, like they always do, and blame it on early release.

I don't think it's "raging about bugs" when there are actual bugs that need dealing with, especially when 30 minutes of playtesting will expose said bugs (republics in charlemagne for example)

Do you feel that you must achieve every possible achievement for the game to be satisfying, and therefor any achievement which does not depend entirely on your personal skill is not a good achievement?

Yes, like most people who are into achieving achievements.

Random luck based achievements relying on more luck/RNG (<2 ruler that lives to be 80 years old) aren't the same as Sunset Invasion which has both a skill component and some luck components. Luck is present in some aspect every game after all but you don't always need to bank on it. In this case, you're buying a lottery ticket.

I'd rather have another playthrough dictating achievement that is possible yet hard (conquer Ottomans as Albania) than something totally chance based which I have no control over.

So Art of War is going to nerf the spoils of war? Hurray! Let's fight less rewarding wars!

This dev diary definitely makes me feel like Poverty of Nations is about to have a repeat. I hope you prove me wrong though.

AI doesn't use co-belligerents for now. I'll likely teach it to use the system in the future, but AI mostly just declares war to take stuff from one country anyway.

Are you able to answer/clarify the potential HRE exploit of Emperor not being made war leader which allows an outside nation to keep decking the opm's and calling in substantial allies?
Its basically a 1 sided gangbang. The emperor can refuse the call to arms but then that kind defeats the purpose of even having an HRE.

The solution to the problem here could be that attacking a nation inside the HRE from the outside requires that the Emperor be a co-belligerent.

I think that's the cleanest way to do it. Attack the HRE, the Emperor's co-belligerent box is checked and greyed out.

+1
Wait. Did I miss something? Why are we assuming that the HRE isn't going to be war leader when an HRE minor is attacked? Have we even gotten confirmation from Wiz that such is the case?

I'd interpreted his comment as meaning that the Emperor WOULD be the war leader:
War leader changes will now only happen under exceptional circumstances - mainly, when a subject calls in their overlord.

Hey, since you guys reshaped south america (which I loved, by the way), are you guys by any chance adding non-generic national ideas to more colonial nations, like Brazil and Mexico? So far the only one with specific ideas are the US :(

I think this would give more playing options, and make the game way more fun for a lot of people (like me, since I am from Brazil :D). This is something I was hoping for since the first expansion, and I don't think it would give you guys too much work to implement it!

I am anxious about this expansion, good job guys!

Great changes with this patch, only two things on the whole that I disliked, but one was for performance, so that is fine! The 1.8 patch will be a must have and I do not except anyone rolling back!

for that matter, Sunset Invasion, 3 Mountains etc, are luck achievements because you have to be lucky enough to get GOOD kings and not BAD ones.
You don't need to worry about kings when you can go republic. There's always a luck factor involved in EU IV, but a sufficiently skilled player can pull off those achivements with a very high probability (especially Sunset).
