Know what we should do? Make a petition asking for a new and up-to-date manual for EU 4 1.8.
So that it is out-of-date by EU4 1.9?

Sorry, but no thank you. If they have development resources available - especially technical writers - I'd rather have them fixing all the broken or lying tooltips in the game.
My favorite - for entertainment value - is:

My Lord,
We have broken our alliance with
(name missing)

Of course, this one will be fixed by a developer. But there are plenty of places that need new and updated descriptions, such as the vassalization tooltip lying about "same religion needed" instead of "same religious group needed" and probably hundreds of other places.

There is a reason for ironman not being available on older patches. Ironman is not, and should not be available on older patches. The patches often fixes exploits that makes it VERY easy to get some achievements.

No. What you are saying cheapens the value of the achievements overall. Did that person get a 1.7 luck of Irish, or a 1.2? Between ironman not actually blocking save scums, incomparable achievements despite it being the same achievement (compare trail of tears now, which is very easy, to 1.3 trail of tears for example), and the longstanding, frustrating bugs in the game and there's not much valid basis for tying achievements to ironman in the first place.

How?

Did that person get a 1.7 luck of Irish, or a 1.2?
What's the difference? Which one is harder? I have never played as an Irish OPM.

Between ironman not actually blocking save scums, incomparable achievements despite it being the same achievement (compare trail of tears now, which is very easy, to 1.3 trail of tears for example), and the longstanding, frustrating bugs in the game
It doesn't block save scumming? Last time I tried ironman (must have been 3 months ago or maybe a little more), the game autosaved even when I exited it with alt+f4. Maybe you can end the process?

there's not much valid basis for tying achievements to ironman in the first place.
It shouldn't? Without ironman, I could easily get the three mountains. Just open up the console and type in debug_mode. Then I use integrate TAG on every country and I won.

Wasn't Trail of Tears added in 1.4?

You can end process. You can do this to get PUs (though it's cumbersome and takes a special kind of cheater). You can do this to ignore bad heirs or get a very good one. You can do this is an ally peaces out at the wrong time.

It shouldn't? Without ironman, I could easily get the three mountains. Just open up the console and type in debug_mode. Then I use integrate TAG on every country and I won.

With ironman, you can get 3 mountains simply by messing with your steam achievements. Hell, if you really wanted to go epeen mode you could just photoshop the fist icon for ironman mode as your "proof" and pick some plausible date. I could cheat my way into that achievement in minutes that way if I wanted, and then show the "proof" here, and I could even make up a better story than other people who have tried doing it in the past :p.

Wasn't Trail of Tears added in 1.4?

I'm pretty sure it was earlier. When MadDjinn did it he did so before CoP, and there were only 4 tribes in North America. I'm pretty sure that was pre-1.4. My Creek LP where I broke the game via bankrupting other tribes with massed colonies was 1.4.

Let us hope they will really improve it as you say. Basically at this stage playing naval power and being in a war at sea is a nightmare. It's the 1-0 system where you ehither win or loose. In a single battle you can loose entire fleet or destroy enemy's fleet. No fun at all.

BTW as the expansion will also enhance peace treaties I really hope that at some point of updating EUIV Paradox will finally introduce mutual peace offer, i.e. country A give country B some province in exchange for let say money or trade power.

How would you, even if you had a million years, code something like that?

There is just no way to make a mathematical formula for that kind of trade.

Yes yes, I know. Thing X is impossible to program, thing Y is impossible to implement:huh: I love such "specialists"...

Those who say it's impossible to program well on a reasonable timescale tend to have the weight of history on their sides; existing "mutual peace treaty" implementations tend to fall into one of three categories:
  • those where the player can easily exploit the AI
  • those where the AI routinely makes unreasonable demands unless it has been beaten to a bloody pulp
  • both of the above
Counterexamples would be welcome, but EU4's AI, at least, still has plenty of lower-hanging fruit (I hesitate to say "low-hanging") to gather.

Ironman doesn't effectively block anything achievement-wise. Anyone can cheat and unlock all achievements without even launching the game.

Besides, a lot of games on Steam have achievements, and none of them require this kind of ironman thing. Maybe in some cases using the console disables achievements but that's about it.

Indeed, and ironman heaps on some rather cumbersome things. Saving every month adds well over an hour to a playthrough (generally 2 hours or more for a full game), and in a game rife with bugs that can ruin the experience (it was only 2 patches ago where permanent wars that literally couldn't be ended were still a relatively common complaint) the restrictions are questionable at best.

At their core, the value of attaining an achievement is up to the individual. Ironman does nothing to stop cheating for achievements and tbh never should have been tied to them. It adds minimal value in terms of legitimacy and a lot of hassle for players who just want to track what they've accomplished this way or pursue these goals officially.

Improved Diplomacy: Sell Surplus Ships, Fight for your subjects CB, Declare War in Support of Rebelfactions in other countries and new peace options like give up claims and pay monthly war reparations.

Can we get a new peace option: Force enemy to drop a policy and not be able to reinstate it until truce is off. Especially stuff like Diplomatic Defense Act etc.

Yes, but that's exactly what development and improvement process is for. People made nuclear weapon simply not because they stop and said "Our technology doesn't allow for that" but thanks to continuous work and improvement. If I'd sounded rude in previous post then I'm sorry, but I just simply don't agree. Moreover in Paradox forums I've seen many times people saying something is impossible while in later stages it was actually introduced.

Once again- mutual peace treaties system IS POSSIBLE to implement- it just needs much more work than some other lower level features.

That was... kind of the point I acknowledge in the final sentence of my post, which you cut in your reply.
