Hey all I was super excited for the concept of army professionalism, it’s an extremely important aspect historically s I’m glad its in the game. That being said I feel its very miss represented, in one or two battles my army goes from highly drilled pros to unprofessional and the highly drilled bonuses aren’t even that important. I feel the meager bonuses don’t really denote anything to the game early or mid-game. Late game professionalism is like a god sent; with the ability to reduce recruitment standards and gain a massive amount of manpower it really helps late game in massive wars. Also the siege bonus late game makes the siege aspect of the 1700 and 1800s a lot more manageable. But from the aspect of logic there should be a idea within a group like quality that enables me to at a certain point of professionalism take vets and better train my troops so that I have a minimum amount of drill for new divisions. Professionalism should have a direct correlation to discipline, because the more professional an army is the better trained the army is and the better trained the army is the better its discipline is. Moral should also be effected, but more due to a reduction in moral being effected, the army feels capable and there should be a reduction to moral effects as professionalism goes up.
As far as military mechanics goes there especially mid and late game needs to be a tactics portion to the game, where my generals like in HOI 4 have a group of tactics to choose from depending on the ideas that I take, the reason that Fredrick the Great was so great was because his army was hyper disciplined and used maneuver tactics better than anyone else un Europe. This is slightly reflected in the general traits, but it’s a major aspect of the nation building in Europe. As time went on the Prussians realized that they needed a professional well disciple general staff, which in the 1800’s had become the envy of the world, any nation should be able to professionalize their general staff. This could easily tie into battle tactics like I’ve talked about earlier. If any nation looks into promoting professionalism, a disciplined and war educated general staff, training their army, and then modernism their tactics they would become a force to reckoned with and Paradox this could easily be a DLC, I’ll even give you the name The "Army with a State" DLC for mid to late game enhancement.
