i would convert the pop like this: the buildings in a province have influence on the type of population (example: a temple would increase the amount of clergymen by 10% or something like this, the percentage could be altered in the rules.txt, same with workshop...). the total amount of population in a province, will not only depend on the eu3 citysize, it will also depend on the buildings, technology, i don't know exactly yet...

Well, I had started a converter, but then I ran short on time. Meanwhile, Seimuun started another converter which quickly surpassed mine, so I figured it was pointless to continue mine. But Seimuun hasn't been active since December, according to his profile, and I have too many other projects to pick up on this one again.

Unfortunately, I don't believe Seimuun ever released his source; can anyone confirm or deny this?


EDIT: Hmm, I guess this is what happens if I leave for an hour or two in the middle of posting.

That's a good idea, but remember that that link doesn't have the newest data files. I was kind of thinking Sid Meier was going to take care of that part, since he's hosting them. Sid?

It’s really amazing the work that all of you have done around here. I’m quite new playing paradox games, and the possibility to jump from one game to another is simply perfect. I would like to cooperate, so.. I’ve been working so hard this weekend. I decided to take all pieces of code from each post I found and put together, fix holes, fix problems, fixing small mistakes and finally review everything to ensure everything is where have to be, especially in Africa and Asia. Right now the provinces are completely done, may be is still something wrong, but is a good point to keep working.

Okay, I see a few places where there's no conversion but there ought to be one. Kansas, northern Japan, and one province near Lake Maracaibo (Venezuela) are particularly obvious. But I'm so tired right now that I don't feel like making a comprehensive list. Can someone else do one? (Hint: it shouldn't be very hard with the viewer I posted on the last page.)

EDIT: I think we are very close to finishing this. Time for the last push! :cool:

Well, I looked it all over (and I don't mean just glanced), and I could only find one problem: a Chinese province that won't get populated in Victoria. Add 1514 (Chengdu) to the list for either 678 (Kham) or 679 (Sichuan Pendi), and we can officially declare the province list finished! :cool:

Well, Seimuun still hasn't reappeared, but his converter is still the best available (and all the data files are built for it).

Has the country file changed since the last converter version? I've added Xirimbolo's provinces.rar and Sid Meier's site to the first post, but I still need the definitive versions of the other files.

First of all thanx for all the work done in this conversion!

I couldn't find a good compiled and re-formatted countries.txt in the thread (could be me not knowing where to look), but I've compiled all the different and overlapping lists I could find here and reformatted them so they are in the format that Seimuun's converter wants.

I can mail it to someone who hosts this stuff?

You can test it yourself they get the files in the 1st post now.

Now I have no actual clue on what’s done and what’s not but after doing a few test converts (edited the game so I started will the provinces I am would aim for in a converted game) I did not see any direct problems but I only really looked at my provinces but I found that a few countries would not convert. The Netherlands was the only one I saw never appear in the game.

There were also a few countries to the west of china did not convert as well as Manchu and once china did not convert but I think that was when china had became Manchu (don’t normally start at the later dates)

Now like I said I don’t actually know what’s done but these things are what I don’t think are done but ran into. No techs, no pop converts and no factories in the world.

Gave it a quick test and look over, some countries weren't converted, but since these were countries I'd added to EUIII, Byzantium etc, I wasn't too worried, province conversion seems fine, as does country conversion, all my alliances and satellites came through nicely.

I think all thats left is to, like you said, figure out tech and POPs. But I think that should be easier, since we can use the EU2REV as a reference point..

looking at the converters files the cultures are done as well as everything else it’s just half of it is not actually being used in the converter. But there are defiantly some countries missing the Vicki “HOL” tag needs “NED” added to it and Manchu is not converted plus a few other countries between Persia and China.

Also i checked starting tech useing that late EU3 start date and the UK started with 10 in each group but I expect that to be changed as EU tech above 45 doesn’t affect vic tech

But it won't be easier if Seimuun doesn't show back up. Lack of current source code is the main bottleneck right now.

Can’t you just get the java programming thing and look yourself?

I would have already done it if I actually knew where to get the thing but chances are I would only be able to give you an idea what it does as I have only recently started my programming at university and its with pascal (good at teaching basics but not for actual programming) or I would actually try and write a program for you.

I've already got my own (partial) converter, but as I have mentioned before, it's 1) not as complete and 2) doesn't use files in the same format as Seimuun's. I suppose I could post what I have now if anyone is interested.

Been keeping track of things here, cause seems like a great Idea. But T_T we seem to be loosing momentum. I wish I had the knowledge to help... I used the converter same stuff, No techs, Netherlands didn't show up. Holland if in EUIII does convert to Ricky, In one of my games China was a complete Blank. Thats using the old Converter.

The other one that uses some kind of Dos window, always has trouble with format of the files(Province file)... Probably my doing or puting something wrong.


I hope we can get more help from the community. Ty for all the progress done, once again its a great Idea. Bad thing it didn't come with the EUIII game.
