Mountains should not only improve defense and slow down army movement but instead be unpassable. In addition to the standard 3 types of land units, which i like to keep, there should be a 'guard' version of infantry and cavalry, maybe with double costs and upkeep and 1.5x combat values. No more sea transport of 50K troops in the early 16th century from Mecklenburg or Morea around the world to southern africa or malacca would be nice, too. Peace talks should include a map where you can click on the provinces you want to get or have to give away (i hate gaining a peace offer which sounds good only to notice right after accepting that there is one province left in enemy hands as an island inside my territory).

Would the card system of units, leaders and experience as used in Rome Total War be practical in EU to reflect the upteen different types of units from aboriginal spearmen through to knights to line infantry?

I'd like to don't see many new rules and options, as AI efficency is proportional to simplicity of a game.

1. Advanced diplo system. With lots of choises. Like GalCiv2 will have.
2. Advanced domestic policies, like Victorian POPs.
3. Good trade system.
4. More options. Loads of options. Unlimeted options. In everything. So you can make your country virtually anything(within historical reason), with different gameplay each time.
5. Lots of events and less determistic event system, so some of bad events can be avoided and good one - missed.
6. Lots of patches )

Well, no bug-fixing patch... but a player-input/feature-adding enhancement is always splendid! ;)

plus map of Europe would change, during each 100 years, so the map would look completly diffrant, so if you had the first EU game map compare it to the second EU2 games map, youl see taht West Prussia isnt called taht but its called Poznas etc, so map wuld change every 100 years,

I would rather see possible to change names on map on your own - when you own province. It actually is historic, that conquerors rename provinces. Definitly Incas named their provinces other way than Spinards.

I believe that in time frame 100-200 years you should be able to switch province religion and culture. I also think, that religion and culture should not be a single values, rather the balance of powers i.e [ protestant - 60%, pagan - 40%] [german - 50%, polish - 50%] with balance changing as time passed by with you owning province and investing efford in change. See rusification or germanization process.

To think that Paradox would announce a game for which they have not already long-since completed a GDD and begun work on....

Sorry. Can't help myself.
