EU3 - who's carrying it in Canada?

Im only a few blocks from that store (at work) so I took a walk in the pouring rain and against my better judgement at giving future shop any money. Well at least I dont feel guilty, they didnt have it. They dont even have it in their system so who knows if they're planning on stocking it. For a second there I thought I saw it but it turned out to be Civ4.... box is the same color and looks similar from a distance.

On the other hand they had five rows of WoW, and just about as many for every version of BF2! :rofl:

Bah... Im going with the Gamersgate. At least Pdox gets more money this way.

I think that might be the only way. I really don't think it is released in canada at all. I have phoned a lot of stores and done multiple web searches looking for any place in canada that sell it and no one seems to be selling it on release date. I don't know what the deal is but we seem to be missing out.

Well to be fair it is only release day and it doesnt seem like our neighbors down south have it in stores either so...

my worry is that the canadian and US markets often get merged because of the huge size differental but we don't have many of the same stores so an exclusive deal in the US can really hurt us in terms of avialability. For example CE is a target exclusive in the states but canada has no target stores. EB's online store has EU3 listed but only the regular edition and since there is no EB canada website they won't have CE listed. Seems that we are screwed because of deals made in the states effecting our availability.

Also today is the release date so it not a few days before it hits stores in North America, its not listed anywhere on release day here for North America and I recall Susana saying that Canada had the same release date as the states.

Further to this though is that EBgames website is only for the states, so if its listed on their site it doesnt mean EB stores in Canada will carry it, especially for a nich game like EU3. If they do its long after release. At least thats what Ive found to be the case for these smaller titles.

To be fair, only super targets seem like they will carry the CE, and those are only in 20 states (and a big fat 0 super target stores in the Western United states). So Americans are getting the shaft pretty good too, not just our friendly neighbors to the north

My wife said I should just drive across the border and hit the Target (she's always looking for an excuse to go shopping down there) but I said no, I cant wait that long and besides you guys seem to be having problems down there too.

PS: Im surprised you dont have any super targets in the western states, not even one in California? thats crazy. That state has more people then all of Canada!

Since it appears the the game just isnt avialable in canada today and I have very large fears about the CE edition being extremely hard to get here in canada a friend of mine and myself pooled an order for two CE versions of the game to save the $8 US shipping charge for one of the orders.

I mention this because I really think that it will be extremly difficult to get the game in canada and I have not been able to get any confirmations from any company that they even are getting the game. I think this makes getting a CE version even more of a challenge. And Since the CE is a limited edition and with the thread about the US market having difficulty getting the CE as well we may find that paradox sells out of thier stock leaving us canadians out in the cold if we wait for the game to make its way through the system to the stores.

[edit] Does anyone have a reliable (as in not a wild guess) idea about the length of time I can expect the game? Curious if anyone has used paradox's store before and how long from order confirmation e-mail to the game at your door step.

Went into EB to trade in some games and asked around for EU3... none of the four stores around the northern reaches of Toronto have it...

Anyone in the GTA area having any luck hunting the game down? Future Shop and Best Buy also dont have it...

I caved in and bought mine this morning as well.

I have gotten really good results from my HOI2 DD purchase (got it in 5 days)

I would expect that you will get it in 7 business days.

Still worth the wait -- i will just have to play EU1 for a while longer (yes i know i don't have EU2 -- Shame on me)

Would a trip across the border to Buffalo be worth it for the regular edition?

If not i would recommend the Gamersgate route -- very little problems from the many who have used it.

I'm in the GTA and some phoning around this morning was met with nothing but confusion or surprise that such a beast exists. I have contacted Paradox's marketing types to see if they can find anything out but it might be a day or two before we hear anything back from them.

Mine was shipped from Paradox last Wednesday or Thursday and has not yet arrived (though today's post hasn't come in yet). I'll let you know when it gets here (GTA) which should give you a rough idea. I would think that a week or ten days wouldn't be out of the question, knowing Canada Post.


EDIT: the mail has arrived, the game hasn't. Oh well...maybe tomorrow.

I gave up trying to find paradox titles in stores here. I live in rural New Brunswick, so the fact we even have videogame stores in a one hour driving radius is a blessing. I went Gamer's Gate for EUIII and ebay for other titles like Victoria and CK, so those are the only possibilities I can give you.

I was not able to locate any store that had it in East or Downtown T.O. I sprung for CE delivery, but then I decided I could not wait. So I used GamersGate with zero troubles.

I'm hoping that CE arrives soon. When I ordered CK by post, it came uber-fast.

Well I just downloaded it from GG, I would have prefered the CE version but Im just too impatient to wait for the mail.

Gamersgate was pretty fast and trouble free. It took 30mins to download, just enough time to give the kid a bath and put him to bed . I ended up playing way too late and now Im really tired, but happy

Hi Guys

This title is very different than others of the same like IMO

EB has always, always had it on their release sheet in Ottawa, every single title from Victoria to HOI 2 and then some

For the 1st time ever, it is

1- Not on the in-house release sheet
2- unavaialable anywhere on any website of any store in canada
3- no one at EB knows a damn thing about it, never heard it was coming; and this came froma store person that played HOI 2

There is a real problem in Canada right now on this game, it is invisible

again I will say that the EB's in Ottawa are the definitive sourece of "harder" games to get; if they never even heard of it, there is a substantial problem in ottawa right now, if not across canada

I decided yesterday, while waiting for this "invisible" release, to order the CE version from paradoxe's website, and wait a couple weeks and get it that way

While I bought Victoria revolutions through gamersgate, not having a paper manual, or any extras sicne it is not a physical release (and it costs the same or just about...), I prefer ordering teh package this time, and get my hands on extras (manual, and in this case, strategy guide for fun..)

I suggest my canadian compatriots do the same, IMO the price on PDox'es website is reasonable

EU3 on Gamersgate does have a manual in PDF format.

And i agree that it is not nice that no chain store in Canada is carrying it.

P.S. I am moving back to my beloved homeland in May. Maybe we can get an MP game going?
