Biggest pro of having a 3d engine is that it sells better with very good graphics. Hard core fans will buy anyway but you want to expand it to the rest as well to make more money and to do that you need to attract the more visualy intrested

About CivIV: better not judge before trying out yourself. Personally I´d say it has by far the best user interface of any strategy game and I´ve been playing them since 1990 or so. Both in the way it looks and the way it makes playing smooooooooth. Surely it can get sluggish if your computer is half a decade old and you want to play in a huge map with all the goodies on. But that´s not really a target group worth focusing much on.

3) Pretty inteface is not what I am seeking when buying a strategic game.
Casluerj said:Why? Why change a winner engine? Why change to 3d? 3D is only good to increase the min req. for a game, making the game slower for most of PCs will piss off ppl.

EU2 is far from perfect (although it is the greatest classic Paradox has made yet and kept me occupied for years). The event system is too rigid and deterministic, the tech system is too linear, it is very un-dynamic in several areas, et.c...Nabukodonosor said:I can only agree on this! new engine means new bugs etc... old engine is nothing less then perfect and it would be pity if too radical change will be made.
You can't improve perfect - and EU2 is perfect. However you can expand it with new options and possibilities but my biggest fear is that EU3 won't be as playable as EU2.

That would be cool zoom in on a province to see the improvements), but it took enough resources with CivIV. I doubt their is a computer marketed to home users that could run that sort of thing in an EU style game.angryclown said:3D as in Civ4?
They've attracted alot of criticism in the past for using the same engine with minor modifications. A 3D game gets more sales these days then a 2D game on the same subject matter, even if the 2D one is better.Casluerj said:Why? Why change a winner engine? CIV4's problem was a massive memory leak. I'm sure you could find a programmer who could write a version of pong with a massive memory leak that would eventually become unplayable.I've been read a lot of ppl complaning about how CIV4 can be unplayable even if you match by far the min.req.
Yes, but in order for a company to grow they need to try new things. If their game making stagnates, the company stagnates, investors pull out (they aren't making money), and the company goes under. What is good on Pdox and make me buy ALL the games here and enjoy a lot its exactly that the games are complex, but not graphically which means they are fast and fun.
Mine is the same, but with less RAM. Runs perfectly fine after installing the first patch.
Most likely. This seems to be his official webpage. (I posted the link a couple of hours ago aswell.Gaute65 said:
