Whaaa? EU3 runs like lightning for me, and when a nation forms, it usually means there are actually LESS countries in play (for example when forming Scand you need to more or less annex two countries).

Yes but the more TAGs there are, (i.e the more nations), the more lag as they all have to be checked etc. More nations causes more lag. That's why mods like Magna Mundi are reducing the number of nations.

Ah, ok. Thanks for clarification. Still, a few more TAGs couldn't possibly cause that much lag? I'm not demanding that a few dozen nations be added. I just think that maybe five, ten more could spice up the game.

How big can the difference be from a few more nations, considering how many are already in the game? EU3 runs extremely fast on my decent computer, I can't imagine anyone has actual problems running it.

Not entirely sure. All I know is, the fewer TAGs the faster the game.

Isn't the main problem with speed in mods like MM the excessive amount of events? MM uses events to simulate just about everything, there are hundreds upon hundreds of events, all checking if they should fire every day... Not the most efficient way to model, for example, the HRE, but only Paradox can include more effective, non-event driven mechanics. Hopefully the HttT will deliver. Besides, maybe Paradox could optimise the game further so that additional TAGs wouldn't be as much of a burden?

Not from what I know.

Never had a problem with performance. Even on my laptop. And I played WWM on the laptop. The mod has a lot of new nations.

Magna Mundi will have fewer nations from MMP2, in order to garner some speed benefits. I am not an expert on these matters, merely what I have gathered/beleive is true.

I like my casual kings and i like that i can recignize them by dinastic names and numerals(Like Luis XI or Philippe VI for exemple).
If Paradox in this expantion will insert dinasties i hope thay will not forgot dinastic names and numerals as for CK

I'm not a big fan of having the byzantines reform the roman empire with a capital in Rome - it seems a bit bizarre. The emperors in Constantinople had been ruling from there for 1000 years when EU starts. Why would they want to trash that kind of tradition? But I could see a decision where one could "Re-form the Old Republic" where the capital is moved to Rome and the government is changed to administrative republic - very ahistorical but a lot of fun!

Magna Mundi has less nations?

MMP has a few less nations, MMP2 has a lot of nations removed. Most of the Native Americans are gone, Habsburgs are reunited (they weren't in previous versions), Ukraine is out (though Zaporozhye is still in), English minors are out, etc.

It's a combination. The events do draw a lot of resources its true. But every TAG has to be checked against every other TAG every month, and probably every month. Thus the more TAGs you add, the slower the game runs, regardless of how many events you're running. And sadly that can't really be optimized, as there's no other algorithm that allows you to sidestep it.

Rome wasn't a Republic anymore since around 40 b.C., so I don't think you should be able to restore the ancient Republic, but rather the old Roman Empire (What emperor would voluntary abdicate in favour of a republic in that age?). Would give you many, many cores as well. Should be fun too, reconquering the Roman Empire at it's peak, going from Africa to the northernmost part of England. Nice mission :D

But every TAG has to be checked against every other TAG every month, and probably every month. Thus the more TAGs you add, the slower the game runs, regardless of how many events you're running. And sadly that can't really be optimized, as there's no other algorithm that allows you to sidestep it.

I wonder if these checks are necessary when a country isn't in play though? Still, vanilla HttT will probably run very smooth so a few more TAGs wouldn't be an issue until mods come into play. And mods can remove TAGs if it really poses a problem.

I hope we sill get more details (dev diaries?;)) on HttT soon, the feature list is pretty cryptic and some of the points sound really intriguing.

I didn't read all propositions, sugestions etc. but, as a moder, I want to write just two of them:

1. Make more place for country modifiers. For example three lines: two of them for event modifiers and one for triggered modifiers.
2. Make possible adding more conditions for buildings. For example: population, base tax, trade goods. I don't like countries with 100% provinces of each building... from deserts of Africa to Siberia. And maybe will be good more place for new building also ;)

The player should have a bit more saying in inheriting another country - in other words it shouldn't be that random. I don't know if having many royal marriages with another country increase the chance, but because I've never inherited, it doesn't seem so.

Having a royal marriage should bring some diplomatic choices and events. I know Paradox doesn't want to go CK with EU, but at least it should be defined if the couple loves or hates each other and each others country.

So "you have fallen in love with your wife" event should be included just as the response options "this is a marriage of love" and "but what about all the other girls!" :p

Could you elaborate how? I am thinking that maybe Paradox could somehow script the game to avoid "inactive" TAGs, but if there are tangible benefits then perhaps they shouldn't.
