I never thought this problem would crop up. This stands as a testament that among us are very dedicated gamers, exploring possibilities that Johan and the team never imagined.

I'm currently mulling over what course of action should be taken. I haven't reached a conclusion, so I'll continue to think about it. Both arguments have plenty of reasoning behind them.

It's unfortunate that day trading exploit leads to the situation when number of records (particularly modifier collecting records) pretty much require using it. In other areas it opens some interesting options elsewhere. On another hand it's regrettable that this exploit pretty much eliminates economic aspect of the game and render number of interesting strategies irrelevant.

I don't think gamey tactics were a problem in general, it's just this specific exploit. Perhaps, the records using it should be categorized separately and only certain records should be allowed?

Figured I'd pop my nose in here since I always see this thread floating about but haven't been keeping up with it.

I wish I never had. Collapsing into a horde was one thing, but instant max tech and limitless money? It's something I'd rather I didn't know and I hope an (eventual) patch will remove the possibility.
if you are exploiting the game, you are exploiting the game. there isnt much difference between collapsing into a horde and instant tech maxing imo

I spoke to silk a while ago about it so there's a reasonable possibility it'll be gone in future patches.

And yeah, the save scumming already made the definition of cheating for this thread questionable, but I'd say the ship bug solidly crosses the line given it's more effective than anything short of typing annex TAG into the console on all countries.

One thinks rather mischievously, what if this is combined with the 5.1 patch - and hence you can optimise economy from the get go, because WC is trivial hence economy is nominally the same, so qoou's records might be assailable (Now it is merely a matter of choosing the country with the right modifiers and the best position to attempt this). Of course this is as has been pointed out not entirely the most legitimate means of playing the game, however there are two things that point me towards saying that it should be allowed;

1). EU3 is coming to the end of its lifespan in any case, and I think all these glitches should be recorded as they were included as part of the game engine regardless of our intents, in the same manner to turbo-annexation in IN which was probably on a similar scope to this. So as its a part of the game it should be recorded as a 'record'.

2). You can make the argument that it is broken, however the majority of the tricks that have presented themselves in this thread are of that very nature just depending on severity, I mean the old record of WC was held by someone who simply turbo-annexed with France. Forming Ireland as England etc., they are all in essentially highly gamey from a historical perspective and not in any way with the spirit of what the game is supposed to nominally represent so to claim it as cheating I think is a bit silly. Yes it invalidates alot of previous thought, nonetheless it is part of the game whether it is liked or not considering most of the things that were done in this thread were 'glitches' whether by design or not. Does somehow increasing the %TE of the world to several thousand sound non-glitchy? That was the point of this thread, and the innovative ways to break the game, so in my opinion it should stay.

Of course does this 'glitch' work on previous versions of the game too, because it would be interesting to see whether it is indeed possible to do this in say 1.0-4.1 and combine it with other exploits (of course that is probably something to be frowned upon because I guess it is picking a version so that you can get 'optimum' play from that of the player, but then again records are allowed from previous versions with different mechanics and RNG's). So either way its a little moot, but from my perspective I would think it should remain.

After reading the comments, I changed my mind and I believe everything should be allowed except cheating. Because it is a game and all previous records were using less-gamey tactics. But they were gamey nonetheless. We all use gamey tactics, when we play, because we exploit the AI's nature intentionally or unintentionally. So I say records stay. However, after two posts questioning these records, I am still not convinced that these records were achieved without cheating. How the hell can you manage infamy. With the Papal states it is 1426, wc and 11.4 infamy. Even with every technology that is impossible. Here are my calculations:

Let's assume he burns infamy with 4.1 per year(-0.9 inamy with 9 diplo monarch all the way, -1 infamy with the NI, -1.5 infamy with all of the Curia throughout the game, -0.4 with embassy and -0.3 infamy with a diplomat = -4.1 infamy) and every province costs 1 infamy(impossible). It gives us 106.6==>107 provinces by 1426. Adding 11 provinces to that because he has 11 infamy gives us 118 provinces. There are 1356 land provinces in the game. I assume half of them are uncivilized(belongs to no one in 1399), so 1356/2=678. He owns 2 provinces so 678-2=676. So there is an 676-118=558 province(or infamy) unexplained gap.

My infamy burn scenario is also far fetched, because you can't have all the curia from start to end. Also he did an Ottoman wc who has no curia at all.How do you explain all these? Or am I missing something? Just do a gameplay video and upload it on youtube.

You can become a horde and take everything infamy-free. Zealot rebels who rise up in horde land can collapse a nation into a horde.

How do you do that with the Papal State though? There's no usable horde anywhere nearby, nor are there any Christian hordes at all for that matter. I guess a capital move might be possible given a mission or boundary dispute in Muslim lands, but that makes it a very odd choice of a country.

There's still the release as vassal, reconquest exploit for burning infamy in 5.1.

And can I get a decision on this:

Most Infamy From a Peace Deal:

Horde land is free, the American pagans (and some African ones as well if I'm not mistaken) can be annexed for 0.1 bb/province. Rest is 1 bb/province with the R/CV CB which I assume he used because he's the Papal State. I can't be bothered to do the math but if you take events and hordes conquering lots of land the infamy looks a bit more plausible.
