I was watching a documentary today on the Norman conquest of England and i got to thinking. EU3 would be a brilliant game for that time period, is there a paradox game like EU3 set in that time zone or a mod or anything?
Well, Crusader Kings starts about the same time as the Norman invasion. CKII coming early next year.
I'm waiting for CKII like a lot of others, but I'd really like to see a "new" EU-type game set from about 1100 to 1500. Or 1200 to 1600.
EU3 doesn't model very well the rapid changes that occurred in the second half of the games' timespan.
1. Rome
2. Crusader Kings
3. Europa Universalis
4. Victoria
5. Hearts of Iron
All are very similar but in a way completely different games. You are probably looking for Crusader Kings. Don´t forget to get the expansion "Deus Vult".
Agree with the Deus Vult comment - it's probably the most significant expansion in any game I have ever played.
And I believe that should change.

EU3 would do a much worse job of modeling the 12th and 13th centuries than it currently does modeling the 16th, 17, and 18th centuries. EU3 is a very state centric game which puts little emphasis on individuals. It's appropriate for it to be a game set during the decline of the traditional Euro-feudalistic system. In EU3, you are the state and your state can really only conquer others due to how bad the vassalage system is (a consquence of the lack of emphasis on individuals). The 12th and 13th centuries are likely best left to Crusader Kings which is the opposite of EU3 in style. It puts all emphasis on characters and pays very little attention to the "state" which only exists as a title and tool for an individual character to exhert his personal hegemony over vassals.
This. I would like to play some period from after the Rome desintegrates, to go a way from a barbarian tripe to a early form of feudal nation. Plus the early conquests of Islam from Iberia to Persian gulf. Much fun.Sadly though, there is no Dark Ages paradox game (about, say, AD 500-1000). And I believe that should change.
