Congrats on getting EU3 Chronicles, play on very easy the first time as inflation is a bitch.

Anyway, I'm afraid your stuck with just DW, you can't play the other ones on their own, it's all or nothing.

I suggest trying a mod, not for any reason, they just make it alot better, try MEIOU

Anyway, about that patching thing, if it's really a big issue uninstall then reinstall, then see if it works.

Good luck.

TBH, you sound abit ungratefull. If i asked for a automobile and got a ferrari I wouldn't complain, what I'm saying is, you bought an old rundown game, realeased in 2007, and got it expanded to the 2011 version, you should be thankful.

Most of features of the previous add-ons are include in DW, its more like a cake, where EU3 Vanilla is the base of it, the other add-ons are the different layers and DW is the iceing with sprinkles.

I just downloaded the mieou. extracted it in a folder on desktop and drag/drop it in the mod folder. when i start the game there is no meiou in mod button. just default. am i doing it wrong?
thanks.

What I do (this may not be the right way, but it always works)

1.Download the file.
2.extract the file to the desktop
3.drag the extracted files to the mod folder of EU3 chronicles.
4.MEIOU has it's own launcher so what you need to do is go to C:\Program Files\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis III
5.there should be a MEIOU launcher there, right click it and press "Create shortcut"
6.that shortcut will appear in the EU3 folder, so drag the shortcut to the desktop
7.click it on the desktop click initialise map, initialise graphics and interface for DW5.1 (Divine wind 5.1)
8.choose your font(this isn't mandatory, there will be a font if you dont choose one)
9.bake a cake.
10.eat it.
11.click MEIOU in the drop down menu of the MEIOU launcher, then play as England.

Thanks. I did as u said but i,m affraid i dont see any Meiou launcher in the mod file. The only launcher that i find is in the mod file/gfx-mod . if thats the one , when u click on it there is no option(initialise map ....). As i c u mention DW 5.1. thats the pach right? as i said earlier icant pach to 5.1 cos i keep getting the error message. is that the reason why maybe?
once i get Meiou i will play england . nothing more satisfying then kicking some french a..:)

maybe you misunderstood, DW includes the other expansions by default, so you are basically still playing HTTT, just with some more stuff added.

Yeah what the fudge people xD

As Nague already mentioned, Chronicles have ALL of the expansions installed and working together AT ONCE. If you want to play HTTT play as one of the nations that has anything to do with the expansion. DW is obviously geared towards the asian countries and their unique gameplay.

Well mod's don't really require skill, at the end of the day it's the same bloody game, just "modded" besides, the amount of BS in DW, if you play without a mod, your basically playing a beta patch of risk.

You have not been conned. Expansions are not free-standing games, each one overwrites or overlays the previous ones. All data and features from the earlier expansions are still in DW, except any that were superseded. Look in your EU3 /localisation/ folder, you'll see text files relating to each of the 4 expansion titles.

Don't think expansions as different games. They're more like 'version updates', so you bought Europa Universalis "3.4" (i.e. EU3 with the 4 expansions). You don't miss anything by playing the latest (well, only thing you may miss is for out of date or abandoned MODs that only work up to a specific version), but you should be just fine playing the game without mods.

C'mon, thats BS. Lets face it. Official advertisement is misleading to say the least. On my box it is written that inside I can find vanilla and all the four expansions, which is plainly untrue. It contains DW expansion plus all its prerequisites. I'm unable to play vanilla, IN, NA or HTTT. I can't use features which are available in these versions, but not available/changed in DW. I can't - last but not least - play mods which were designed for them. Funny thing is, it contains manuals for these non-playable versions.

The same goes with achievements. They don't work.
And what says paradoxian site about achievements?
“I am extremely excited about this new functionality, which will truly enrich the gaming experience for our fans,” said Johan Andersson, Executive VP of Development. “It will strengthen the community at our forums, giving them more things to talk about.”

Is it too much to ask that official webpage told accurate state of affairs?

As much as I like the game and appreciate other PI efforts I very much dislike that kind of "misunderstandings" which are not uncommon in my (limited) experience with paradox :(
