In the interview Johan mentioned altering the game to make it easier for new players to understand. There are fundamental trade-offs when going for n00b-friendliness or hardcore-gamer features. It's not possible to have both. I don't believe the differences between EU3 and EU2 will be as slight as EU1 to EU2...
