Another suggestion about civilising nations. In my game the tech rate was insanely slow i guess cause no germany minors made it into 1500 and austria was very weak they always seemed to be the leaders. Only 3 nations broke 40 on the miltary tech me but i owned like 5 cots and such. The biggist sweden i ever saw and the dutch. Only 3nations broke 20 on naval technology. I converted the game and 4 of the great powers would of been uncilivsed if not for being a great power. And only 3 non great powers where civlised and all of them were recent revolts in eu2. Theres like 6 europe nations uncilvised.

So what im suggesting is if possable any country with its capital in europe to be civlised. And heres the tricky part maybe avg out the techs of all of europe and use the numbers u get to determine if other nations cilvise. For a non europe nation to civlise maybe they need to be within 10,15 of the miltary techs and with one or two on the econ techs. If possable something like this would be nice since the tech rates game to game can vary so much.

And sry for my bad spelling :)

We are currently testing how to deal with it...

I'm a little staggering here myself. On one hand I think you have to reach at least a certain EU2 tech level to be able to get any Vic techs. It doesn't make sense if you can convert a game 1524 and get railroad just because you at the moment were the most advanced country...

On the other hand, if the most advanced country is only on army tech lvl 40 at the end of a game (1820), he should get some Vic army techs at least...

Instead of Europe = civilised (which would miss out on any languishing American states) why not latin (tech) = civilised and orthodox (tech) = civilised?

Just an idea.

EDIT: Another idea. Can Vic starting literacy levels be linked to EU2? I've just had a look at the latest zip file, and it seems as though the conversion utility could manage something along the lines of:

Literacy = (Innovativeness*0.25) + (Trade*0.35) + (Infra*0.35)

or some such? This way one could avoid technologically advanced countries (such as, say, a player-controlled EU2 China) revert to abysmal literacy levels.

Yea, we've been figuring out a good way to incorporate literacy conversion.

This idea is a good one.. and then maybe add religion as a constant to the equasion, as it was somewhat of a factor (at least in Europe).

OK, I went and tried this. First ran it with my most recent game, as the USA in The American Dream.

No dice. I loaded Victoria up and selected the scenario- but there were no playable nations. Bugger.

OK, I gave it another go- another recent game as Poland which I played from 1419 through the end of the game. This worked fine- and thankyou so much folks, I managed to kill around eight hours straight on the game. Obviously, as I wasn't the richest of nations and hadn't been planning on EU2Vic I didn't have any manufacturies... and I had a very uncontiguous empire. I think in any EU2Vic game, the player will find themselves making a LOT of money by realigning borders along cultural lines. For example, Britain owned much of the American interior. I got good relations with both them and the USA and then made a couple of million by buying up British provinces and selling them to the Americans. I also bought a couple of British provinces in France and sold them to the French, sold a lot of my colonies and bought French territory in central Germany... then I went on to annex uncivilised Russia and take down mighty Sweden with my 200 division mob pool (used only half... the other 100 divisions just sat there wrecking my economy). Germany got the "conservative empire" event because there were only three German states (Prussia, Austria and Wurtemburg). And boy, is Mughalistan big...

Problems:
As above- Spain was uncivilised in this game. Algiers, believe it or not, was civilised. Maybe you could give some sort of bonus to Latin and Orthodox nations in becoming civilised. Uncivilised Russia is OK- especially as they were being held down and repeatedly beaten about the head with a stout stick by both Poland and Sweden- but Spain is a bit extreme.
I think the largest army in the world when I started was around five divisions. I only had one division. I'm pretty sure that isn't right.
The ships did seem to convert- but again I think the world's largest navy was 7 Men of War. I reckon you should convert it 2-4 warships into men of war rather than ten. Of course, you might have more data which contradicts this.

You might want to have some satellites automatically released if possible. In particular Belgium from the Netherlands, as they came into being in the interval between EU2 and Victoria. A bunch of new world states too might be nice... the only major new world states in my game are the USA and "Bolivia" (actually an Incan Empire which, thanks to Spanish instability, stretches up into Central America).

The Falklands had British POPs despite being Polish territory. Anything you can do about this? I suppose not...

Anyway, at the risk of repeating myself: Good work so far. I'm sure with more feedback and some tweaking you'll have a fine system on your hands.

Weird…

You can add your own selectable nation after the “selectable = { … }” section just add "USA = { }" (that is if USA still exist ;) ).

I have added Emre Yigit’s idea about not making Latin techgroup countries become uncivilized. It will be available in next release…

How army converts is in the readme… Army/navy values are currently being looked over.

The best way to solve this is to build an events file for the converter I think…

No, POP conversion in yet. I’m currently working on it. It will be in in the next version.

Well victoria techs tied to your tech lvl in victoria is fine maybe there requirements could be alowered a bit the world is quite poor atm. But I was mostly talking about the requirements for the nations to be civlised as i said only 11 of 55 nations where cilivsed and only 4 of those 11 were cause they were a great power. 6 or so of those uncivlised nations where european nations. I dont know if its possable to do what i suggested but something would be nice.

Also keep up the great work =p

sorry i haven't post my testing results, at tyhis moment i only have 2 games to convert (because i didn't have time this weekend to play new ones for testing and those i have are the ones i used when trying converter for first time) so i was hopping you wait a little more, and i want your colaboration, can you please send me some files of ended games with the starting date information to my email germanpaparoni@hotmail.com or post the saved game in the forums, my plan is to gather like 50 games, convert them and take conclutions on what is the best way technology can be fixed, population converted, and things like armies and navies.

You're right about that; a custom event set could deal with some of these things. However, it'd not be appropiate for every game...

We could do it fairly general though! It’s impossible to cover everything, but freeing some nations and stuff like that shouldn’t be that hard.

In the next version no country in tech group “Latin” will become “uncivilized”. It should make a major difference...
