Hi everyone,

Being a real fan of Paradox I have recently purchased CK (in addition to Vicky and HOI). Now, realising that i can effectively convert CK into EU2 and EU2 into Vic I am thinking of purchasing EU2. However, I have some questions.

When converting from EU2 into Vicky how did you guys deal with programmed events (e.g. reunification of germany or italy)? How did you deal with AI (e.g. if i play EU2 and end up with the UK being a very weak national when I convert into Vicky will it still be acting as if it has 200 divisions?)?

Has anyone actually tried to play 3 games consequently? If you did then what major problems did you encounter?

Some of these questions have probably been already answered so I bring my appoligies if thats the case.

Thanks.

Well i've been converting my eu2 game as i played it to see how it looks. Well im debating if i should keep the vic events in or not. Cause england hasnt really left there island game and austria and poland shallowed everything german. And american never seems to form in eu2 esp. considering that england doesnt even own much of north america. So it will make for a very different game but u cant except anything close to a historical game just a fun one =p

Question: how does Victoria play after conversion? Where do say... machine parts come from?
My impression is that if you have a high enough infra-rating, you'll get some machine-parts; the higher infra, the more parts.

Additionally, you have techs that give you parts in Vicky.

Is it better to play an EU2 game that is close to historical nation borders by 1819 prior to converting?

Not that I am good enough for WC, but are there problems in having a game that is very ahistorical at the point of converting. i.e for province i.ds or for national events firing etc that may cause ctd's?

DAmmiitt... i was hoping putting off buying CK until the prices dropped..... now I'm going to have to shell out more money just for the 1066 - 1920 capability... I was able to restrain myself for the 1066 - 1820, but now....

p.s. Isn't the victoria map beautiful?? unfortunately, the economic and infrastructure maps are so ugly... i mean, who picked all puke green???

We haven’t really had time to test what happens in totally ahistorical games. It would be great to hear about your experiences…

I think the event system in Victoria is quite robust (eg. there are checks to see if countries exist before event triggers and the like). I am inclined to think however that it might have been assumed somewhere by accident that for example the UK will always be in the game, since it is very unlikely to disappear in vanilla Victoria.

Well, the 2-province-France anno 1820 inherited a huge, mighty Burgundy with colonies all over the world by 1836. Unfortunately it got neither their tech nor their armies. Quite difficult to rule such an empire now.
And small Poland has 17000 negative industrial points. :D

It appears that the latest version is playable. Sure you get some odd things like a puny France inheriting a mighty Burgundy, and the POP conversions have yet to be done. But it is all I can do to stop myself from suddenly ending my current enjoyable game in EU2 (where the year is but 1481), calling up a 1700 or 1773 scenario, and playing that to 1820 just to be able to convert the whole shebang into Vic.

More feedback from all would, I believe, be appreciated in the mod forum where this is being pulled together. And I cannot imagine that an extra few pairs of programmers' hands (and brains!) would be unwelcome.

For all those used to the like of the 10+MB files that take forever to download, the converter is less than 100KB and should be downloaded by everyone interested. Its in a simple zip file that you can peek into without extracting, and shows just how the conversion process works.

As Emre is mentioning here, all help is appreciated... the project is under development so many things need to be tweaked and adjusted. But first we want to focus on the huge things (such as pop conversion) and then dwell onto the rest...

:)

To everybody that is interested, there is a new version of EU2Vic out there. It includes POP conversion. :)

Remember, this is a Beta. So everything is not perfect yet!

Enjoy!

montyP, I've uploaded the new version to VickyWiki too.
