EU2 to VIC converter...

I know this post is more appropriate in the mod forums but i feel this utility needs some attention, not everyone visit's the mod forums. I did not even know it exhisted until i saw it mentioned in a random post yesterday, by Germax.

Has anyone tried this utility yet? I downloaded it but dont have an interesting EU2 save worthy to convert yet.

I believe thats the most recent version, the thread tends to be a tad confusing at times.

While i play a EU2 game with a minor and get it to the point where it would convert to Vicky and be a very playable nation such as Serbia or Byzantium, maybe some others could have a go at it or currently have a save game that would convert well right off, read the utilities readme for how things convert like techs, factories and such. Post your experiences here or screenies.

Or if you have already fiddled around with the utility i would love to hear your feedback.

Wow works good so far as i can tell, just a warning though, dont load an early game of EU2 up or when it converts the entire world will still be uncivlized. The game i converted Russia was a three proivince nation, the US didnt even exhist. The game i converted was a GC in EU2 that was currently at 1536 time wise. Way to early to convert! Funny half the world was free colonies!

This could very fun!

Make shure you buy EU2, its the same price as EU so you might as well...

Something to add about the convertor. It's a Work in Progress, so many aspects are still pending and yet to be decided and implemented.

But it converts a game and allows you to keep on playing.

Check on the sub-forum where updates are being posted weekly.

Plus, all efforts and collaboration are welcomed!

i think i checked some Download thread... there were some posts from june/july by the original creator, and then some more recent posts by someone else... what should i DL??

Well currently i'm in a game as Georgia (i posted some screeshots yesterday in forum) and i am starting a multiplayer game as mameluks, all i can say is that the convertor is impresive and it gives me more chance to play a lot of cool countries like Egypt

I'm in the mp game with Germax (we have a small thread in the mp forum) and I'm also using the converter to play a 1066-1920 game. Its a great tool

The only big letdown that I can find is that the culture setup is still the same as in Vickies 1836, yankees and dixie in america for example, regardless of whom colonised it and what culture the province had in EU2.

I must say that that is quite impressive stuff. Almost makes me want to take out my dust-accumulating copy of EU2!

It's an excellent tool, but its major draw back (bearing in mind its an early version) is that military units aren't converted. My Royal navy was totally gone, and I had to try and build from scratch. Still an awesome achievement, and I'm keeping my eye's open for newer versions.

Stingray, we're working on it... but we haven't reached an agreement about how to convert them properly and deal with minorities. eg: UK in India, if you occupied India early in the EU game, should inhabitants in Victoria be British or Hinduists? If mixed, in which %??? That's something we're working on it...

Of course! In fact, I don't see any reason to wait that long, if you have an already pretty-nicely-working version.

I'll check out your forums tomorrow to have a look and see if I can put togtehr a page or two about it.

Perhaps I don't have the latest version then, when I coverted my GC as England (it wasn't quite finished, but I was in the late 1700's) there were no armies or navies, kind of created a bit of a Utopia ^_^

Don't get me wrong, this isn't a critisism, after all its not a final version.

It seemed to give me my naval and mil units. The game end date was 1820 and all tech were researched. So when it converted, it did a really good job of it, compared to games that i converted but hadnt finished in EUII. I know the Readme for the converter deals with what levels you need techwise for things to transfer. Not shure tho. Still neat as hell
