EU2 LibrAARy

The LibrAARy

Welcome to the LibrAARy – a complete listing of EU2 AARs that you can read on this forum.

This is an ongoing and continually updated listing.

What’s inside?

First off, I’ve expanded the way the AARs are listed which is why it's been created as a whole new set of posts at the end of this thread. You should still check all of the above posts frequently for the latest information and links relating to the forum. There are many very useful links placed here by Lord Durham to discussion threads and so on that I have not included in the LibrAARy to avoid redundancy. You'll also find new information you should be aware of. I cannot urge you strongly enough to take a few minutes to read it every so often.

A variety of information is included for each AAR. This includes a notation as to what date range the AAR covers, whether it was finished, abandoned, crashed, or whatever and whether the AAR has garnered an OscAAR award.

Another change is the organization of the listing-by-country. In general terms it hasn’t changed and is still presented by an arbitrary division of regions. The old “miscellaneous” section has now been divided into a couple of separate posts. One of these highlights Forum Features – things like the AAR Writer of the Week, reviews of AARs, and hot links to things like the BAAR and the SolAARium. More will be added to this as warranted. The new “miscellaneous” section contains a listing of multiplayer or multicountry AARs that can’t be placed in one single region, or things that otherwise defy placement (PTI AARs for instance).

Collaborative efforts are now keyed by the thread-starter’s name instead of being under the “collaborative” heading. This is more of a logistical change to make my life easier when doing the updates each month and I hope that this is deemed acceptable by everyone.

You’ll note that more AARs are listed as “completed”. What this now means is that an AAR was brought to some sort of natural and intentional end by the author as opposed to being abandoned, and you’ll see an end date included which will indicate whether it went all the way to 1819 or not. This is somewhat in an effort to recognise authors who have put in some hard work to write an AAR and haven’t just “left it hanging” for some reason.

Since there is a massive mount of data added with this latest revision to the LibrAARy it is only natural that there will be some errors in the information. Please follow the guidelines laid out below to let me know about any errors you notice and I’ll make the corrections.

What do you need to know?

Most importantly, the LibrAARy can only be useful if the information it contains is accurate and up to date. Being human, it’s impossible for me to keep it that way without your help so I would beg you to please observe the following and to help me make sure that newcomers are aware of their “responsibility” in helping me. Here’s what I need:

There’s a Monthly Update Thread that I create at the beginning of each month to track changes to the LibrAARy that occur during the month. If you start a new AAR please take a moment to go to that thread (stickied at the top of the forum) to tell me about it. Details of what to do are included in each month’s header post. If you finish an AAR I also need to know about it so please post that in the monthly thread too. If you abandon an AAR for any reason (tired of it, file corruption, etc.) please let me know too. Lastly, if you think an AAR has been abandoned by the departure of a member, please post that in the update thread as well along with the game date that the AAR was dropped.

JWolf has put in a massive amount of time to work on this update. He has corrected many of the errors in links that I had accidently left from earlier versions. Errors in the LibrAARy should be reported to me along with the correction. You can do this by posting the correction in the monthly update thread, by Pming me.

Omissions in the LibrAARy may occur for several reasons: I may have missed it when doing the updates; you may have forgotten to tell me about it (shame on you! ) in the update thread; or I may have removed it from the listing due to abandonment and brevity. This last reason is a somewhat contentious issue so let me spell out the rough guidelines I use when I delete a listing:

- An AAR is started and then abandoned within the first few posts without much “content” having been written. Since this is an arbitrary decision, I usually try to err on the side of leaving it in the listing. If you object to my having removed one of yours, let me know and I will “reinstate” it.
- An author specifically asks me to remove it from the listing. This can be done by any of the three methods listed above. If you later change your mind, I can always put it back if you ask me to.
- The thread has been closed or removed by a moderator or administrator for whatever reason. As a member, I adhere to requests from Paradox or their representatives in this matter and will comply with any instructions I receive. Appeals to this should be addressed directly to Paradox’s representatives and the listing will only be reinstated with the expressed authorization of said representatives.

*** Please keep in mind that removal of a listing from the LibrAARy DOES NOT delete the thread from the forum (except in the case where a moderator or administrator deletes the thread). ***

Approximately every other month, I will close the month’s Update Thread and I or a brave soul will then start a new one for the next month. It usually takes us a week or so after that to incorporate the month’s updates and I typically post a message to the effect that it has been done. Please take a minute to double check that I’ve made whatever additions/changes you’ve requested and let me know if there are any errors. I will usually add those corrections to the next month’s update rather than trying to fix it immediately.

A very special request: Since there are always newcomers to this forum, if you see someone starting their first AAR without posting it to the Monthly Update thread then please take a moment to point them to this thread so they can read this and help me to keep the LibrAARy current. This can only benefit all of us and also helps to make a newcomer feel welcome.

In closing, I hope you find this a valuable resource and that you take a few minutes each month to make sure that you’ve done your part to help me keep it up to date.

If you have any questions, concerns, suggestions, requests, or whatever then do not hesitate to contact me via PM or e-mail and I’ll do my best to help you out.

Regards,

Your LibrAARian
