I have suceffuly installed EU2 on Linux(using WineX). The problem is: No Music, and bad SfX!!! And some flags with changed colors (like in 1.8 with AoN...).
I can live playing EU2 without sound. The real problem is the MP part. Since EU2 uses DirectX 7's DirectPlay I have no idea on how to get it working. Please figure it out and I'll swap to *nix permanently.
And there it dies, thanks to the lack of DirectPlay support in Cedega (wineX 4). However, I have heard that DirectPlay games can be made to work through a DirectPlay masquerading module that somebody wrote. Problem is that it requires a rather specific older kernel that supports IP masquerading (I know there's a 2.2 kernel that does it, and I think a 2.4 kernel, but no 2.6 kernel) and I believe that the DirectPlay masquerading module was compiled only for a 2.2 kernel. Still, you can always set up two kernels and boot to that one when you need to play MP games. I've not yet expended the effort to make this work, but it can be done AFAIK.
