For me, far bigger issue than the graphics (yes, they're horrible) in EU3 is just the generic feel caused by the dynamic system. If you start from 1453 it'll always be more or less the same for you since nations feel more like each other, and it will never be anything even remotely historical in Europe with Burgundy never ever getting inherited and dividing Germany with Austria etc. I don't in theory have anything against a dynamic system, I just would've hoped that the AI in one would behave somewhat historically in what it dares to do and what it doesn't. Austria certainly didn't go on an annexation spree in the HRE in 1453. Then again, in a perfect game whole HRE would be modelled differently so that even in multiplayer you wouldn't just mostly go for dividing Germany as Austria.
Then again EU3 is just... advanced. The best solution would probably be to code my own Europa Universalis, but that'd be a big job, especially with my skills
Oh, and in EU2 terrain view was clear and told me exactly what terrain was in question very easily. In EU3 (and actually in Vicky) I had to use political map all the time since terrain map makes it hard to look for the borders and doesn't really easily tell you what terrain a province is. Why? If you want a good looking map that isn't really used, atleast add Abstract Terrain Map Mode or something to the next game.
