Greetings,
after bought and played EU3 for quite a long time I did not found it as the next part of the EU sequel, rather than a completely different/new game.
Not that it is bad, but now I have the wish to return to my good, old golden horde of EU2:D (at least for a while).

When I bought EU3 it was new to me to see Ming at the black see, europe consisting of big blobs and so on, it gave a new feeling to the game and it was interesting. But now as I play EU2 again I think it will be interesting to see almost everything happening as they did in history around me, countries forming, timurids breaking, ...

What do you think about it? Havent really read EU2 forums for several moths now, I wonder how many actually play rather EU2 than 3?

Probably it has been asked many times before...

Thanks,
Jadam

Many, but impossible to say exactly.

And yes, EU2 and EU3 are two different games for different taste.

EU2 for alot of reasons (although I also like alot of the ideas behind EU3)

# - EU3 is not good for my machine (not long after buying it, I gave it away), and decided it wasnt worth the upgrade.

# - Getting older, getting less interested in learning about new computer games (in fact after trying EU3, realised there was no interest), tired of upgrading the computer for little improvement in actual game quality.

# - Love strategy games, games that made one think and plan, EU2 is the classic game in my view (even with a number of 'bugs' in design), so Ive come to decision we'll grow old together :D, with the occassionally game here and there...

You can't say that Eu3 is unplayable. Actually it is quite good game. Both Eu2 and Eu3 are great games. Eu2 has more mods and it is a classic, but Eu3 has more things in it, like improved economy and many little stuff like renaming armies, promoting Generals and it is quite beautiful even it's graphics are quite old for a 2007 game. Also cheers for Eu2 for being simple and you never get completely bored at it.

Eu2 is 6 years old, right? And still most of us play it. I can't play most games over two years without getting bored. And in Eu2 you got best chances to make a microminor into a mighty major. And political mapmode looks better in Eu2 when you look your Empire.

Oh and it has Falalalalalalan

u right , it was asked and discussed many times over :D however i am pleased i was not the first one to get that feeling while play testing it the very first time( lucky for me it was a friend that got stuck with eu3 and not me :D :D )

i repeat myself; the loss of historical events made me drop it very fast ; and also the game requierments for a super video card seems out of place; a 3d map does not add too much for creating a "fantasy" based on reality ;)

If only 3D map of EU3 had been an enhanced 3D EU2 map with same principle and enhanced features... But with used 3D engine, video memory requirements could have certainly been higher.

I would adore EU3 if it used the same map/graphics as EU2.

Many of the new features are things I've been dying for in EU2 (buy/well provinces...more detailed info about the HRE...the way regiments work, et many many al)...but the graphics kill me.

As it is, the game runs too slow for me to be able to play it enjoyably...entirely due to the graphics. I understand that most new games have flashy graphics to attract people...but in my opinions, the graphics of EU2 were simply perfect. Simple enough to be user-friendly, and it still looks pretty, too. :)

Hehe yeah, that is above all!
And I agree with the graphics, I like that one in EU2 a lot more than in EU3.

All i can say is, i look forward to either a hybrid of eu2/3, which will ofcourse be called eu4....AND a modern day geopolitical game which paradox has unfortunately so far stayed away from(the eu3 AI and randomness could well suit a great modern day strategy game).

I'd like to have EU3 with EU2 multiplayer balance, EU2 graphics and more EU2ish AI (along with the events I reckon). I don't really play either of the games. Modded EU3 in MP is what I occasionally might be doing.

The trade system should just get a complete rework.

I have never understood what's the problem with 3D. It made paradox games finally look like they are not made in Interwar years.

But 3D is great but PLEASE don't use it on HoI

I disagree. The EU2 interface is based on a map. Have you ever opened up an atlas and had it burst out like a pop-up book? Maps are 2-dimensional and trying to make a map 3D is just impractical and foolish. I would honestly prefer it if Civ and Total War were still 2D also or atmost isometric.
