walter, you own both and prefer EU1? enlighten me...
First there is no EU1.....its EU

. Its the original, the makers of the game couldn't think of a clever name for the sequel so they just slapped on a II.
Anyway I was at the computer store checking out the stratergy games. The clerk recommended EU when I described what kind of game I was interested in. So I picked up the box containing EU....read the system requirements and then read about the features of the game. I was impressed as everyone who has played the game knows. Even though it was only 9.99 I decided to look around and see what else was available. Then I came across EUII. Hmmmm.....29.99......an extra 20 bucks......for what??? Now the discription on the EU box is deceiving, it says right on the box "90 potential player controlled nations" or something like that. If you still have your EU box you can check it out yourself. I guess the key word is "potential", or maybe they knew about the coming of the IGC.

Whats comes in the box though allows only about eight playable nations. Anyway I couldn't see the big difference between the two to warrant the extra 20 dollars. I really don't know what made me pick EUII....maybe the extra 100 years.....maybe the extra 110 extra playable nations....maybe it was the II after EU. Anyway I bought EUII! Went home, turned on the computer, popped the disk in, did the install. Tried to play the game.......nothing! Tried again! Nothing! Did a reinstall. Same stuff! Thats when I(too late)decided to check the system requirements for EUII. Now you people who comprehend what you read know that that I only checked the requirements on EU, not EUII! All you others can scroll back.

Anyway.....by this time I have a strong desire to play this game. So I go back to get EU......the one that will work on my system. Luckily a 30% off sticker was attached to the box.

so that's the story of why I play EU instead of EUII.
