In one package, Oranje style, I've decided to put the entire aar (all 8 parts) with screenshots on a website.

http://polisharmies.cjb.com/aarp/aarp.html

Enjoy,

* Note this aar was written 4-5 months ago, however decided to put it on a website after seeing how nice Oranje's website was, it will be easier for newer guys who can't be bothered searching through the forums.

Yes, Sapura, thank you for putting this AAR into the web.
Is it always so? Rebellions, bloody wars, former allies stabbing each other into the back etc?

yeah, this kind of complicated diplomacy and complex wars is why i want this game sooooo bad. Also, the fact that you're country didnt essentially conquer all in its pat is different from many AAR's. Also, what were the VP rankings? if u even remember now. thanx again :)

hjarg,

Alas it was in my game, I think I explained it in one passage. I expanded too much too quickly early on, the state couldn't handle it and it collapsed leading to the loss of all those states which I controlled (Prussia, Order etc), + the constant problems of keeping the Ukranians in check and still being able to repel borders on all frontiers. It proved impossible but I survived :)

brendiaz,

Can't remember the VP's unfortunately :( I do recall Turkey was number one though. The problem with most people who whine about the difficulty of EU is two fold

a) They usually choose one of the easier difficulty levels

b) plays this game as if it was an arcade shooter / street fighter. Fire with ALL GUNS BLAZING, GO GO GO GO GO! This simply was not the way for a lot of the time during that period, even for most of the major superpowers.

Though here in a way you are restricted by the amount of troops and armies you can build up what is still need a more creative inertia. For christ sakes, most people play this game as if it was set during WW2 ..

In a way it's the fault of game construct that causes this, but nevertheless there are ways around it.

Sapura,
No problem about VPs, youre the winner in my book ;)
Also, i completely agree about the way most people play this game. Through a lot of AARs and threads ive read human players tend to simply declare war, get 3 provinces, rebuild, declare war, get 2 province, etc.
They play, as you said, like WW2 or A Total War type scenario, it removes a whole aspect of the game for them to enjoy, IMHO. Its not really their fault though, how many computer games can you name that stress diplomacy as something other than to stall the enemy into another war? Some of us have been corrupted by games like Civ 1, 2, SMAC, MOO, MOO2, Age of Kings, etc. Incredible games, yes, but in the end diplomacy always simply stalled the enemy, and war and total conquest was the ultimate goal. This game is something new and exciting in that conquest is not necessarily the best path to victory. Just another ?, what other AARs have you written, other than the classic Battle for the Baltics, id like to search for them and read up on em. Thanx again for the great AAR :D

Xanadu,

Aye, Oranje really spotted on a great idea.

Brendiaz,

Er, quite a lot of aar's .. I went AAR mad for quite a few months there (sort of like Oranje, Kekkonen, etc at the moment). Best bet would be to read my Austrian AAR's (about 5-6 parts and its probably bigger than the Battle for Baltics one), as well as the V.A Corte Diaries. Just search for 'diaries' or 'diary' in AAR forum.

Here's the links for the Austrian ones. Starting with part 1.

I myself prefer more patient approach... build up your strength, army, alliances, economy etc until you can crush your enemies without much trouble.
But in Timeline, Sweden had the same problems... countless rebellions. And so did English... and rebels seems to rise in all other countries as well. Very rebel game :)

that is not only an awesome aar, but it is a great way to post it like you did. i also really like how you detailed the alliances in the end there, focusing on the rise and fall of them and what led up to it all. nice touches, inspiring.
