Hey gang,

I noticed a strange superstition I seem to have developed
in the game.

When settlers/traders are almost finished setting up, I seem
to feel the need to NOT watch them, you know, scroll the screen
somewhere else, just for fear that watching it might make it go
bust and have the natives revolt.

Yeah, it's silly, but true all the same.

Anybody else have some EU superstitions or antics?

I have the same thing too actually. Like if I'm watching the settlers, they will never work. On the other hand, I feel like if I'm not watching a battle, my army is doomed to failure! :D

What happens if one of your armies gets attacked just as a settler is closing in on its destination the other side of the world? split-screen? :D

hahaha

That only seems to happen when I'm at the fridge for another beer.

Seriously, I just can't bring myself to watch settlers being placed.
They always seem to 'eat it' under my watchful eye :)

I never watch my traders, settlers, or many battles, I have faith in my generals.

Now my missionaries, I watch them with an intent eye as if I'm guiding them even though success was predetermined when I sent them 8 years ago.

I hate watching the missionaries' last several months, it jinxes them. They start fidgeting and the infidels are less than convinced :). Another superstition - I somehow think that moving large amries to the border of a country I'm trying to diplo-annex somehow might help. No idea why.

Yes, provinces seem like they revolt just as I am looking at them thinking, "I hope they don't revolt, my armies are 4 provinces away right now and I am at war with everybody."

Something else, whenever I am about to pay off my last loan, I cringe in fear waiting for a war to come. Invariably, one of my little allies will decide to take on Austria at which point I quickly run out of money and take another loan. I swear it happens like 90% of the time.

LMAO

I have noticed that there have been times where I send a colony to province with a 70+% chance of sucess and it fails. No biggy it happens. But after 5 or 6 tries on the same province I begin to think that there is a bug. Has anyone experienced this? Or is this because I have watched or not watched my colonists?

I always watch combats, simply because if I can retreat early when I have no chance, I might be able to save a good portion of my army (which is always nice). Other than that, I don't particularly watch all that much, simply because the fate of your nation rarely depends upon it. :p
