Firstly, I would like to say I resent the attitude you are taking - it's remarkably childish and fairly offensive. Most people resent being referred to as "your kind". This is a forum for paradox customers and I have as much right to express my opinions as you do. You have no special powers and no special position, and attempting to belittle my views only makes you look foolish and self-important. I've been buying and playing paradox games for seven years, so I would like to think my views are at least tolerated by the powers that be at PI. Whether you, crappman, like them or not is, I suspect, of very, very little importance.
Nevertheless, how you can possibly claim you are getting "an entire new game" is entirely beyond me. The primary feature of the expansion is the introduction of a Senate complete with factions and character agendas (and the tribal equivalent for other countries) - fantastic, that will improve the game a great deal. However, why should we have to pay £10 for an expansion that includes the Senate in a game set during the Roman republic? Adding "personal goals and agendas" - what was the point of the character system then - was it no deeper than just assigning random featureless people to positions based purely on three numbers?
I have no doubt once paradox have released an expansion or two that Rome will be a superb game. But I reject the idea that because these expansions improve the game that makes them good value. When other companies offer expansions they give new worlds, graphic overhauls, brand new features. What paradox are doing here - offering an expansion that introduces the Senate - is the equivalent of the Football Manager team offering an expansion that included the Champions League, or the transfer market.
