I really want to see several things in the EUIV:
1) family tree
2) some sort of mobilization because its wired to see regular armies in 15th century
3) better tech system, maybe a mixture of vici a CK
4) deeper inner policy

No. It doesn't prove that they're working on it. It shows that they're thinking about it and are collecting information from us. I do agree that the info gleaned from that thread is unlikely to help them with an expansion though. But since we're only on version 5.1 it would make much more sense for them to be working on improving DW with a 5.2 patch before an expansion pack.

The area I'd like to see the most improvement is diplomacy. Not just adding options (defensive alliance maybe?), but making the options already there mean more to players and the AI. Overall, I think being a major power in Europe needs to make the player more conscious of the balance of power. I believe Helius made a mod that made the AI follow an artificial balance of power, but I'd love to see it actually incorporated in the game.

Thats my bet. Paradox will drop one more Expansion then start work on EU4. With the games current popularity both in Forum and out, it Would only seem Logical to keep the Proverbial Money train rolling Until those of us waiting for that CK2 Muslim expansion finally get what we want ;)

Paradox has two different teams, one that works on new games and another that does expansions and works on current games. EU4 is due to be the next new game unless they have an entirely new series planned because EU3 is now the oldest of the 4 main titles (CK2,Vicky2,HOI3 are all newer).

As far as expansions go its possible they could do another EU3 one but I highly doubt it because they would then be neglecting their three other main titles. It is more likely that the new game team will work on EU4 while the expansion team works on one for either Vicky2 or CK2.

As I said, there is no point in just developing a new EU game. A new game will, in the spirit of Paradox tradition, need at least 1 expansion before it will be a good game and at least 1 more before it is a great game. EU3 is already more than a great game.

Oh so true! I will buy EU IV the minute it is out and as ususally expect not to play it seriously for about a year or so. The important part being, of course, that we all end up with a really great game.

1) family tree
Family trees and more depth to the dynastic system would be most awesome, if only for the fact that that would mean your heir wouldn't always be the current rulers brother based on their age difference - and the somewhat unbelievable "marriage policies pay off" event could be changed into something more sensible.

That said, that and much of the other things that people are requesting could be implemented within the framework of EU3. A new game would probably make more money for Paradox, but on the other hand it's hard (for me anyway) to think how EU3 could be improved so much it would warrant the development of an entirely new game.

I don't get why people think that there is no point in making EU4. Are you really going to be content playing EU3 in 10 years? Also they want to remain the main player in the genre, so that means staying ahead of the competition.

The competition doesn't exist, so there is no one to stay ahead of. ;)

I would love a new EU, but I prefer to have an even better EU3. Plus, they need a new engine for a new game, this one is not the best,

I would also want a family tree in Eu4, I dont like the hordes either, I have been thinking that if they would make an defence alliance that you can form for around 2k-5k cash and only those who really trust you or have a realationship higher than 150, then you can ask them to join, and its not something like HRE so you cant swallow the whole alliance just by decisions (or never swallow it) and if the leader of the alliances is going to war then some of the other major countries in the alliance has to approve it with a vote. this is just a little I had in mind but I think it would be great if they added something similar to this in Eu4

I want a expansion to focus on the North American Tribes personally (and a religion rework, but not required) so that the Aztecs are actually FUN to play. Right now, the pagan negative is a pain in the ***. You can conquer the Zapotec, and the Maya, put down unbelieveably strong rebels (that then become **** when your nations collapses, it WILL HAPPEN). all for what? The Europeans can come and annex you in one war and won't even accept a decent peace offer because at all, even if you manage to stop them.

A dynasty tree would be an amazing addition and frankly it should've been the main feature of Heir to the Throne considering the title of that expansion. I love how the character system works in CK2 and how important intrigue is in that game. That's something I would really like to see in EU4... some interesting intrigue options like the plots in CK2. Characters would probably be too much to ask considering the fact that the game covers the entire world but a ruling family tree and intrigue shouldn't be difficult things to add.

"Sticky" supply lines that drag from a home or ally province to where your unit is moving. If an enemy army moves round you it will cut your supply limit (but not fully).

A less Eurocentric (Europa, I know...) view on medieval civilisations. No more "westernisation" or detrimental tech groups.

As someone mentioned, pdox has two development teams, both of them have finished their projects recently. Conceptual phase for new game in many development studios begins even before current game is released. I believe that is true for pdox as usually they announce their new games few months after their previous project is released. And always when new game is announced the conceptual phase for this game is over: the developers know which new ideas are in the game and which are out because they have been working on it for some time.
So they are probably working on one big project - not because of any competition, but because its most profitable for the company. They are probably also working on one smaller project (maybe an expansion or minor grand strategy game like Sengoku or Rome - for second development team) and few little projects (patches for CK2 and EU3, maybe some DLC).
I believe that the biggest project for main team would be EU IV or some new franchise game. It is most logical, since HOI3 and Vici 2 are still brand new games.
So, yes - we can guess that they are working on EU IV. It usually takes pdox from 18 to 24 months to complete biggest and most important projects – I guess it would be 24 months for EU IV. So game would be released in 2014.
