I hope there will be soon released a hotfix/patch to fix some of the problems, that occured since release of 1.8. For example: The AI takes very stupid actions. Look at this screenshot:

uuddmppf.png

In a war against Poland and Lithuania, several allies are stacking their armies at a long occupied provice (Vilnius) and are waiting for attrition to kill them while the enemy is slaying every allies army elsewhere.

Even the reinforcement have only one goal: Join the others to die united from attrition. There where only 36 armies left, when the reinforcements arrived:

wh7ws5wr.png

I relalised another bug in the game: When I was fighting together with my allies Brandenburg and Austria against Burgundy, the King of Boulougne dies and the event fires. So Burgundy disappears and the world is at peace - But not for Brandenburg. Even if there is not indicator that either them or me are at war, they wont join me for anonother war, becauce we are fighting another war together...

When I try to pursuade my allies to join a war when I was called to join another war, they follow me because the "would be called to multiple wars". But I can only ask them to join my war, not the war of my other ally. That seams quite illogical...

When I annexed a vassel, the provinces get 75% autonomy, but when I won a province in a peace deal, this province only gets 30-50% autonomy. Quite illogical again.

When there a are only a few member stats of the HRE left, I will NEVER EVER get appointed als elector, regardless how good the relationship to the emperor is. He prefers to get malus for to few electors. Pretty stupid.

There are also every time standing idle armies anywhere in Europe. Look at the screenshot for the Austrian army in Ruppin, for example. I guees it will stand there for another twenty years at the exact same location:

zkxuvnyc.png

In the war againt Burgundy (I referred to it above), all of the Austrians armies where wainting in Vienna, when the minor allies where fighting the enemies together. Austria contributed nothing at all, just looking and relaxing while we fought their war.

I could write a lot more, but I think this are enough severe bugs to fix for Paradox for now....

I'm not sure if this doomstack attrition thing is just in 1.8. I'm quite sure it was a problem in earlier versions. I remember beating France as Granada (i think it was 1.6) by making high level forts on their borders and making france siege it all --> they lost all their 200k manpower because of it.

Interesting. But my allies are sticking aroung in a single, long sieged province. It would be a progress if they would plan to siege somewhere else...

This happens from ever. Is it happening more frequently in 1.8? Some people say reloading fixes the problem.

I played this game over 1000 hours but I never noticed this behaviour in such extreme manner before.

And now, here is the screenshot for the "together at war" bug:

g3gtmfiz.png

x2w4ijjo.png

6z4jn6nq.png

Brandenburg thinks, we are allied in a war together, but we are both at peace.

Paradox, I really like your improvements and upgrades for the game, but after each patch, there are more und more bugs which doesn't occured before... :(

Those of you who experienced this bug, was Burgundy involved? At least from what I've seen so far Burgundian Succession Crisis has been the culprit in provoking this bug. Haven't had it myself, as if I am in war vs Burgundy I always peace out with whatever I can get before unpausing.

On a similar note :

1) I've seen a Brandenburg emperor sitting on 70 IA and not passing any reform, even if most electors were in favor.
2) In my current game, I was never able to join the Protestant league because I was either at war, or there was already a religious war in the HRE, or I had a truce with the Emperor. What's the point of having religious leagues if there are so many restrictions that prevent you from joining them?
3) Also, when you declare a conquest war on a league leader, it brings all the league members on his side. Is this WAD?
4) And these dogpiles... I've never seen such big dogpiles since the good old EU2. I've seen a 90k Ottoman doomstack wandering in Anatolia, probably suffering insane attrition.
5) Giving provinces objectives to allies and vassals doesn't seem to be working. The military focus for vassals seem to work though.

This is not a thing from 1.8 this has been in-game for ages and almost drove me crazy in my 1.7 game as Frankfurt; vassals wondering around without knowing what to do, falling asleep and burning their manpower to oblivion due to the attrition, going the wrong way, inability to harsh treat provinces, failling to convert/core provinces without a game reload, attacking rebels with 1 regiment because they only have one transport, AI doing dumb amphibious ops, I could go on but the list is simply too damn long.

Frozen AI happens a lot in CK2 as well - you often have to reload to "fix" it. Maybe it's a Clazwitsz Engine (or however u spell it) thing. I don't think Paradox develop the Clauzwitz Engine (not sure on that tho).

I've seen this so many times now. Austria leaves two exiled 20+ stacks in 2 provinces forever. I reloaded hoping that would fix it but only the smallest stack moved. They just keep eating attrition forever.

It's baffling.

had similar in my last game. 30k+ French stack left in a 12 supply HRE province for decades. The stack was black flagged, so no military access issue. Guess it's just buggy path finding, in that case. weird

While I agree with almost everything what OP said, the one thing they did right is:

But I can only ask them to join my war, not the war of my other ally. That seams quite illogical...

This is quite logical. In my 1.7 game as Russia I couldn't start a war with ANY European country without overpowered France being involved. I.e. I declare a war to Novgorod, it's allied with Poland, Poland allied with France, so France joins and flood Russia with troops, looses 50k manpower, and Novgorod gains 2 provinces from Russia, France just butchered it's troops and gained dubious victory for the third party. What was the point for them to fight for Novgorod again? Also world wars caused by chain alliances were quite common, which was quite unhistorical. Therefore, it's one of the things Paradox did right.

Actually, cascading alliances WERE historically accurate... just not to the level the game had. It's a shame there is not some sort of happy middle ground where alliances can cascade but only under certain conditions (HRE can take lead anytime, DoF possibly, guaranteed nations are a good candidate, attacking into a coalition maybe, and of course vassals which are currently the only one left). If it told you an alliance could cascade up front I don't think it'd be a big deal.

The multiple war malus is poorly implemented. No question about it. It should not apply to wars that they couldn't be called into. It shouldn't apply if they'd be happy to join every war. They need to ignore instances that don't apply, and add all the penalties for every war together and if it's still less than their lowest join desire, accept anyway!

So let me guess - a new patch for frozen armies fix now only be after half year when new dlc will be announced?
