I for one would love a HOI 2 with this economical model and map!
And i would imagine that HOI 2 would not be played between 1936-1948 making it just a ww2 game...but it would problably stretch from the 20s to the 50s....and the outbreak of war would be less scripted.

You should guess that these people can do what they like with HOI-2. It can expand to cover the period from the end of Victoria into modern times. The basic foundation would serve to do that.

In the end, it could come up to EU2 in the robustness of its scope! Not to say 400 years, but 80 years packed with events. It seemed to be a quick wrap with many limitations from its original design; like something half-grown.

Honestly, this seems like the poetic justice. If it will come to pass!

There will be a whole new engine... in time. This will probably be done for EU3, as shall be completely new and revolutionary. Thus, that is why it will not come until like 2007/2008.:)

What about a utility that lets you take a save game from EUII & play it in VICTORIA and then take a save game from VICTORIA & play it in HOI , and then the utility calls my doctor & wisks me off to the clinic to complete my labotomy ... just a thought.

Between now and 2007/8 there is a long time. I were rather surprised if they did not make use of a probably successful game-engine in the meantime. Wouldn`t it be a kind of a waste of resources?

Let's make it 2005 and let it cover CoW, Spartan, Legion, CK, EUII, Victoria, HoI and a possible space expansion.
With a new engine, lots of techs to discover and more depth.

Future Games

I have always really enjoyed Paradox's games from EUI to HOI I own them all (soon to be joined by Victoria!!)

Paradox has made 4 games now off of this engine. I have really enjoyed two of the games, EU I and II however I did not enjoy HOI. I felt that the game engine did not work for a WWII war game. The use of provinces and the combat system made HOI feel like EU with WWII units. I really think that if they are going to do HOI II then they need a better engine that simulates WWII better. I hate to have to suggest hexes but that might be a solution. Perhaps a more radical idea might be possible....

A game without provinces nor hexes and the front lines are drawn on the map as the armies move through them (perhaps some form of a zone of control). Cities are also marked on the map and you have to move your army group to the city to attack it or you can surround it to cut it off in a seige. Provinces would be used only for economic and or diplomatic parts of the game but the military part would be seperate.

I am not a programmer so I do not know what is possible but I hope for a new engine for a HOI II or EUIII, Victoria II type game.

I hope that HOI II is connected to Victoria, so that you can play up to the 50s or 60s.
