So the question arises: How many of us are ready to shell out another 45 bucks or so on the sequel when we've only had the original a few months. Looking over the screenshots, there seems to be a few new additions, but are they really worth the money? It's not like it's an entirely new game. It looks more like patch materiel.

Well I will certainly buy the game... No matter the price... Have you read all the changes on this site??? I find those 'minor' changes more then enough to make me buy it. But that might be because I LOVE the game...

So will I and I´ve only had the game for 1-2 months. But I do think they could have made the map somewhat different. Judgeing from the screenshots it´s the same exact map.

I am definitely going to buy it, and I genuinely believe that there's more than enough new stuff to warrant the name EU II. This is more than just a patch!
I also have absolutely no trouble with the map. It's clear, crisp, understandable and easy to navigate. Don't fix it, if it aint broke - and please don't give us a high-tech 3D map with continuously variable zoom. It may look groovy, but it's a pain in the butt.

Regards,

EoE

I like the map as well but I hope they will add some more provinces and reveal some of the Permanent Terra Incognita areas.

Making the game run in 1024-mode is another great thing. I use a laptop with a fixed-resolution screen, so 800-res. just doesn't look any good.

I'll buy the game, even if I think it puts shame to Paradox for releasing EU1 a little buggy... Hope they debug the game better this time.

im definately going to buy EU II, but i personally do feel that it is just an imporved version of EU I. i dont feel its "patch material", way above that, but i do feel its "add-on material". but hey, im no programmer(not for games at least) so i cant say just how much they changed. i just think it should be cheaper than that of a full game considering how recently it is being released from its predecesor and the fact that it looks like much of the code is strait from EU I. regarless i love EU I and im certain ill love EU II so it wont be that big of a deal buying it.

I'm not impressed at all, where's the new challenge? Seems Paradox are getting a bit lazy.

Huh? What new challenges could those be? It's a game about becoming the most succesful nation on the planet. Would you rather that the challenge was to breed the best cows, have the happiest citizens or become the first nation to fart simultanously? :D

EU II will simply be a better version of EU I with a lot more features. That's generally the nature of sequels. Like... uh... Quake I, II and III.

EoE

I agree with you EoE... What greater goal could be accomplished than being the greatest nation on Earth?

All hail Paradox!

Sorry, mis-understanding. What I meant to say was that they haven't really included anything to my knowledge that merits paying another lump of cash. It just seems like a large add-on, not a sequel.

Yup, EU II is confirmed to be using the same style of play as EU I... I like to call it semi-turn based, or semi-real time :)

OTOH, Paradox is not getting lazy at all... I can't name a single developer that is taking its fans more into account than the Swedes :)

They actually listen to us... Makes the whole process of developing a new game seem a collective effort... I truly hope they will sell enough to stay in business. Paradox deserves to go on making great wargames... Is there an English version of Svea Rike, by the way?

Paradox Entertainment has released two new screenshots from its upcoming turn-based strategy game…Europa Universalis II will use the same turn-based strategy system found in the previous game…

Um, did these guys even play the game?
