I have been an outspoken critic of Paradox and its infamous DLC policy.
In some cases, it is well deserved, such as the early expansions for HOI4.
The problem is that the workshop is doing this content ( and more ) for free. Its something that developers really need to look at.
However, I have recently invested in EU4. A late purchase for me and I am literally blown away.
This is a masterpiece. There are no other words for it.
It is challenging, immersive, detailed and highly frustrating !
I'm glad I finally got into this, the replayability is immense. I am almost accepting of the high dlc prices now with content as excellent as this.

What DLC?

I've played over 700 hours with all the DLC

Both of the HOI4 dlcs, death and dishonour and together for victory. For the prices of these, there was very little worthwhile content, IMO.
The issue is that people are comparing with what is freely available on the workshop.
The workshop is therefore a blessing and a curse for developers, I believe.
