Hi Folks,

no, I'm not dead, still most of my time is consumed by working and playing EU.

As for EU: The game is just great ! Double all your expections and they'll stilled be fitted by the game.

Still I'm not completely satisfied with the German version. This is mainly caused by two reasons.

a) I thought this was the German version. BUT it seems as if it had been developed out of an English one. The intro video has English language, sometimes, on-screen-messages are partially written in English. Also, Venice state is called 'Venice' (English word), while 'Venedig' (German word for Venice) refers to Venice city.

b) The manual sucks. It has no real structure. I tried to play the tutorial and thought that the manual would provide me with all the info I needed. But failed. I finally started playing a Grand Campaign (that is called 'Der Grand Campaign' in the German version - another hint on that their must be an undistributed English Final Version - and acquired my knowledge on the 'learning by doing' basis. Although it took me about ten minutes to figure out how to have an army board a fleet (well, this would have been discribed in the manual - but I didn't read it), I still think that this is the best way to find out how the game works.

Conclusion: The game is really great. There are no technical problems like random crashing. Still, I'm waiting for a language patch - one that extincts the rest of English language and makes the game all German.

I did not find the time yet to look for any files that could be altered easily if you want to make German -> Englisch language patches on your own. So you can keep hoping for that it would work.

So long
Cptn Kiff

Heheh... The Tutorial chapter in the Manual isn't a follow-through text but a complement to the text-boxes in the Tutorial... You have to read the text-boxes to learn to play. That this is so is written in the manual.

Is it true what they say? That EU owners can walk on water?

lets see, let me change that post up a little bit. if i start now and work all night and all tomorrow and all weekend i will have them done by monday. 5,738 lines of them! i doubt i could do that in one day, plus i need a decompiler to hack their code. it would be easier for me to just translate as i play, so i know for a fact i wont be translating anything unecessary.

Just to let you in on another comment from a german that already has the game, which I found on usenet:

Also die Übersetzung der Texte im Spiel ist gut, mir ist bis jetzt
noch keiner der sonst üblichen Fehlern aufgefallen, auch das Handbuch
ist einwandfrei (hab allerdings noch nicht viel gelesen - gute Spiele
versteht man auch ohne Handbuch :) ).

English:
The translation of texts in the game is good, sofar I haven't encountered any of the usual mistakes. The manual is excellent (but I haven't done much reading yet - you can understand good games without the Manual :)
