My first play I quit after 20 years having gained two provinces and experiencing my second plague, It was shear frustration since I like exploiting success much more then slow trudging. my second try is reported here,
The settings were normal difficulty and normal hostillity.
1492, In the year or our lord 1492, I came to guide the Ethiopians. knowing little of the world beyond the five Moselum countries in my area. seeing only trackless waste to the immeadiate north too many miles of dessert before the Nubian Capital, and having heard of the mighty Turks to the North, I took the only possible strategic approach to further the cause of my people.
1492 I built a warship started on a second and a balif
1493 January Turks decare war on the Mameluks, Warship construction continues on a second and third ship
seeing Lebanon and Judea fall to the turks we launch our two ship fleet and position in the northern Gulf.
as the Turks head through the Sinia into Egypt we decalre war and I order troops ashore into the Nile Province.
1494 seeing mamalukes coming to the nile we retreat into captured egypt and retake the Nile in August, we spend the year transporting troops to Turkish occupied Egypt.
1495 February Noah lays siege to alexandria, while the turks move on toward Cyrenia, by July we are sieging the only Mameluke province left, and as the turks start to fill in our siege trenches with us we order and assalt right before the main contingent arrives,
July 29th Alexandria falls, July 30th the Turks Annex Mamaluks leaving Alexandria and Nile Porvinces in our hands.
1496-1498 we regain stability and build infantry origionally positioning for a Nubian assault from the Nile province.
1499 the Turks insult our Ambassador, since there behavior is well known and they are already in full scale war with a Polish Spanish alliance we decide to make them pay we build and stand to our armies and decare war 4 months latter in september with all the turks drawn north by december we have everything from lebanon to cyrenia under siege.
1500 we continue the sieges uninterupted provinces begin to fall Cataract followed by egypt, then Lebanon
1501-1502 the peasants become unhappy, and war exhaustion sets in, January Alexandria revolts with 42,000 peasants. we decide to be conservative and settle with Turkey for the only really valuable piece of realestate, Egypt, and rush to quell the rebellions. we were too late though by the time we get to Alexandria the Pesants had taken the Citadel which would not be reduced till November 1502
1503-1504 rebuilt infantry and watched as Turkey lost 4 more provinces to european coalitions and another to Persia.
1505 Declared war on Nubia, in a lightning annexation campaign, pinned there troops in hajar while my 60,000 infantry assaulted the other three provinces and moved through the fouth.
then realeased the Nubian many army in al hajar as it tried to recapture Nubia, we converged on Al Hajar before they had completed their Seige and annexed Nubia and 18,000 able men.
This did much to replace the 30,000 we lost, of which about 27,000 was to attrition and disease. Dessert fighting is not for the faint of heart. campaign started in January and concluded in December.
1506-1516 we are postioned with 25,000 man armies in Egypt and Alexandria, and waiting for the right oportunnity to strike, we build balifs in all territories. but no opportuinties develope we only border Turky and with their allies Aden Hadjez, Oman and Hasfids we can not contenplate a gulf naval invasion or a war vs there combined strength.
In 1508 Poland and Spain decalre war vs Turkey. I Stand up get ready and Turkey buys off Poland 2 months latter.
In 1510 turkey decares war on the Knights there is not enough oposition there to attract me to attack Turkey, 1511 Turks annex the Knights.
the remaining years are quiet in this period.
1516 I thought was a fatefull year, Jerimiah the conquistador arrives, coincedentally as spain makes peace after annexing a Aztec colony. I spend a year getting a army ready for him to expore the coast of africa, since the ocean is undiscovered.
1517-1519 with hight hopes Jerimiah works his way down two provinces of africa, we begin to save money for colonists, when the third province turns out to be Portugese held. So much for colonial dreams on a shoe string budget, we Recall Jerimiah to Egypt and buy a Ivory trading post in one colony, so much for our first set of Colonial dreams. in 1518 Hungary alone declares war on Turkey, still not enough to get us embroiled too dangerous to justify the -2 stability effect which takes 6 years of investing to reclaim.
