Last time, I was able to plan for long drawn out wars and wait for rebellions to break out, but I'm finding these empires to be extremely stable, even if I can throw everything into mercs and defeat their main stack. I can't do that very often and it doesn't work as well as it used to.

What else can I do? I'm perfectly willing to save scum but even with that it's pretty difficult still.

since it's an AI and not a real player things like upping relations via gifts and chancellor mission will help with holding off an invasion, and in the current version you can get betrothals from interfaith which grants non-aggression pacts, I'm fairly certain that saved me from the mongols in my caliphate strikes back game

The Arabian Empire or other muslim states depending on your start date are very stable, indeed. The only thing that crushed them in my Byzantium game is the decadence revolts. I had the Abbasid dynasty owerthrown twice by the decadence revolt, granting independence to quite a few dukes and ever the King of Egypt.

However, as Ethiopia I you don't create the empire you can swear fealty and eat the empire from the inside.

Wow, you can do interfaith betrothals? I haven't seen that as an option.

However, as Ethiopia I you don't create the empire you can swear fealty and eat the empire from the inside.

I'm trying to remain Jewish. Can I hold onto that if I join them?

You can. The only thing you're risking is getting your titles revoked, although I've never had that happen to you. Also, if the "Title Revocation" law is set to disallowed, you're in risk of... nothing.

yeah, I'm hoping it's not a bug, but it might just be a slight rule breaking thing from the "allow interfaith marriages" rule, so it may get "fixed" even though I think on a limited scale it should be allowed without breaking achievements.

anyway as long as the first Caliph/emperor you swear fealty to likes you you can start expanding inside their realm as a vassal or cozying up to other vassals/the emperor and make sure he wouldn't dare take titles from his (hopefully) strongest vassal

I actually think it's safer to remain outside his vassalage though since revoking a title is equivalent to DOW and much easier since one of the first things AI does is getting title revocation to religious law

I've found that, lately, the muslims are far more willing to invade Nubia and Abyssinia, which is problematic, as well as very a-historical. I haven't seen them this aggressive in the region since 2012, to be honest.

There are some documented walkthroughs of Jewish games here.

There is something bugged if you leave interfaith marriages set to default (and I personally hope it does get fixed), but you can set the rules to allow interfaith marriages. And even before RD, you could use favors to force acceptance of interfaith marriages.

Is it a bug? I've had periods of time when Muslims and Christians alike were marrying into my Buddhist realm. Now, the only non-Buddhist who are willing to marry into me is Khazaria, and only for a narrow window of time.

I'm thinking this is less bugged, more reliant on factors we aren't fully aware of.
