Eternal Colonial Competition

I'm in a colonial competition in 4 separate states with two different nations because every time a crisis pops up it sets to 0. Seriously?

What's resetting to zero? The "crisis temperature" of the colony, or the number of stacks of investment?

If you keep pouring enough points in, eventually someone will run out of points.

Also the more points the nations have invested into it the quicker the crisis temperature will go up, eventually it will become the biggest issue on everybody's mind!

And if colonial negotiations fail, you gotta hope you have enough troops to back-up your claim!

Ah, I think I misunderstood how colonial competition worked (I took a while to get AHD). I thought that the crisis meter was the colonial competition duration meter.
