nope. You get very little force limit of cossacks when you enable it. Ex. 100 force limit,10 % cossacks land, maximum u can make is 5 (100*10%/2) cossacks... Eventually you want to get remove cossacks land and get crownlands anyway.

I just got cossacks as an estate in my Poland game, is Establishing the cossack regiments worth doing?

It mentions the availability of "cossack regiments" but I have no idea what that is exactly and enacting it exempts them from land seizures.
Theyre a unit, like janissaries or stretsly, they're worth it as give even more cav buffs as poland

Not worth it. They do have some useful privileges though, and the cossacks are neat cause you have an extra estate for loyalty bonuses and potentially more governing capacity from land rights. As Poland I'd just go with recruit cossack leaders, cossack self-governance and land rights when you can spare the crownland.

I say go for it.

Cavalry suck. They're expensive, and not worth the expense, and overrated in almost every case... but Poland one of the the biggest exceptions to this, and it's definitely the biggest exception that gets access to the Cossacks estate. Cossack regiments are never more valuable than when played by Poland/Commonwealth. They're... still not very good... but if you're ever going to use them, now is the time.

So the "cossack regiment" is one unique unit to be used in an army then?

I went with Cossack leaders as that seemed worth it to me, I was also considering self-governance.

It scales with force limit and crown land, you recruit via the macro builder once privlieges got

Can expand as time goes on, manpower for tax in steppe is very good

If youre playing Cav Poland then go for it its just more modifiers and even you can play towards removing all estates land holdings except cossaks then give them loads of land thereby maximising your coss FL. Obviously they can be hard to get so if you sprinkle them then thats fine or if you choose to just go full infantry then thats fine but Poland has much more incentive to go into them then say Russia because of the national ideas

If you go as far to re-structuring your estate setup so that cossacks hold the most land while the other estates own little, you still will only be able to field so many cossack units and you're losing out on high crownland benefits which you want later on (esp. absolutism). By that time the +10% shock damage is rather paltry. Conceptually the special units in EU4 are rad but many are not worth using.

Poland is a fantastic military nation, and the cossacks make your military even stronger. But you don't need the special units.

Okay thanks for the tips, I think Polands national ideas are excellent for a land power nation.

I've never really looked into absolutism, it's definitely strong in the late game?

It's not worth it. It's a privilege that is not well balanced. Its: like 1/10th of your force limit gets 10% cav combat in exchange for some crown land, maximum absolutism and being unable to take that land. It was worth it when it came out but it was since nerfed to the ground like many other features.

As of 1.33, the privilege is ABSOLUTELY worth it because just like the Manpower privilege from Nobility, it also prevents Seizing Land from removing land share from Cossacks.

Couple that with Sale of Titles, it's entirely possible to let Cossacks to hit 50%+ land share pre-Absolutism, and have a big portion of your army to be of Cossacks units

Once you've hit 0% land share for other estates, so the land is only shared between you and Cossacks, even after Absolutism you can have and keep a sizable Cossacks unit army.
