I have to admit, i wasn't using them when i started modding Stellaris. I knew they existed but did not bother with them, believing falsly that if i made a major mistake the game would not run or that it would show as i test things out... But this game is quite resilient to bugs and will run even if there is lots of errors. Some of the popular mods on steam have tons of errors yet still work well enough that nobody really notice. But i know better now, error logs are my friends, if they show up it's because there are missing code, typos and non working features. Not all problems will show there but you get a really good hint on how well your mod is working. My FRB mod used to have plenty of minor bugs, nothing that would make the game crash but who knows what kind of horrible savegame anomalies they could spawn or how much they affected the game performance.

So learn from my mistakes, use the logs.

Unexpected token ) is just telling you you used the wrong type of paranthesis. It even tells you where.

The error log is very good and as the OP said, Stellaris is very resilient to bugs so it can be helpful tracking down bugs. Yes, sometimes it struggles to tell you exactly where to look. 'Impact/knock on' bugs are always problematic to track to their source.

Yeah, that's intimidating. But some minor typo can cause a cascade of errors like that. Forget a = or a { and you can get tons of errors because everything that is following gets screwed.

Better to get a error log than just a crash. Then you have no idea what you did wrong. The error log tells you mostly pretty well what you are doing wrong with even descriptive error messages most of the time.

Yeah and don't forget the debug log. it is very possible to have a clear error log but also try to keep an eye on the debug.log.

I strive to maintain a clean error.log for my own mod, Stellaris+. You just have to have a lot of patience and know when to ask for help. So if you want to play bug-free versions of some of the best mods out there, you can try my mod.

Also, you should all teach yourselves to use proper tools, code conventions and standards. For tools, I recommend Notepad++, WinMerge and GitHub.

If you're doing a big mod and you're not using proper version control, YOU WILL FAIL. Guaranteed, not now, not tomorrow, but very very soon, you will make a horrible mistake that you need to revert and you will not be able to because you didn't use proper version control.

Make sure you never give up. It is true that right now, you don't know anything about modding and you made several huge mistakes, but if you keep at it and search the forums, you'll be a great modder in no-time. Also, try not to be the best at everything related to modding because you will fail. Find yourself a niche and specialize in it, for everything else there's teamwork.
