Hey Guys, could you upload your logs for us so we can get a bit more information regarding this issue? Logs can be found:
  • Game logs: \Documents\Paradox Interactive\Age of Wonders 4\Logs

When will the patch be released approximately? This week?
This is part of the hotfix that we regularly update, so soonTM
This does not guarantee it fixes your issue unless you get the exact same error when launching the game directly

I have the same problem. Playing on Mac via Parallels Desktop.
Hi Baevidson, Parallels Desktop does not support DX12 which is required to run Age of Wonders 4. If you have no other method of running the game we recommend you request a refund from where you bought the game.

Hey All, if you're still having this issue on the latest Hotfix then it might be due to a outdated Windows Version. We're looking into a workaround be we do recommend you make sure your Windows is up to date.

Same issue.

This crash actually is different so we need to investigate further what might be occurring here.

I don't know if there was a patch last night. No sight of 3221225785, but 3221225477 still persists for me. My windows and drivers are up to date.

Windows 10 version 1607, OS build 14393.5850 (updated today)
Geforce Game Ready Driver V 472.12 released 09/20/2021 (newest driver for my GTX 1060 6GB)

I tried launching from launcher, .exe, and .exe as administrator and all three seem to give identical error logs.

.exe admin: AOW4_Crash_2023-05-04-08-36-09_1EEAF426.tcd
.exe AOW4_Crash_2023-05-04-08-36-47_905E3410.tcd
launcher AOW4_Crash_2023-05-04-08-37-08_8F2BDBA5.tcd
Hmm odd, if you updated your Windows OS you shouldn't have this crash anymore. We're adding an additional fix for this in the next update so that should be getting addressed for you with that

There was a patch so I tried again. 3221225477 persists. However, this time I also briefly got the following error (picture included).

Also the logs seem to be slightly different. First is for launcher. Second one is for .exe

We'll look further into. Are you sure that you've updated your Windows OS, it's still being flagged as a version from 2016. Could you potentially be on a Enterprise version?

Yes, I have the Windows 2016 Enterprise version. I tried to update, it doesn't work, an error constantly pops up.Not through the microsoft website, not through the downloaded version, and that's it. What to do? To reinstall Windows completely from scratch with a new version, this means you need to buy a separate version, demolish the entire old system and reinstall EVERYTHING from programs. Or I can wait for a patch for this version of windows. What other options do I have?
The hotfix branch should allow you to start the game as Saina and BadSanta, but you'll likely run into the same issue as they did.
Looks like the previous error message got fixed!

I'm not getting any errors or crash anymore, but my game screen is black throughout the intro animation and in main menu. I hear the intro voices and 'Welcome to Mage Heaven', but the screen remains black as the music plays. I do see the ingame mouse, though neither clicking nor pressing buttons does anything. I can access steam overlay while in game also.
Same thing.
Oh boy, now things become a challenge. I wouldn't know from the top of my head what we can do about this. I'd suggest trying to run the game in Windowed mode and see if you can force low graphics through the PlatformSettings but things are becoming a bit of a shot in the dark.

Do you have any other suggestions besides reinstalling the system? I can't run it in windowed mode (in Steam).
Not specifically, I'll reach out to our Tech Manager and see if they have a device with this Windows Version. Maybe we'll be able to learn something more that way.

Since I can't guarantee that we'll be able to get it to work for you guys (or within a reasonable timeframe), it might be best to request a refund from the Storefront where you bought the game.
