Er, what's the status of 1.06?

This is my first look into this forum - I had assumed it was closed once 1.05 came out, but a post in the main forum said there might be a 1.06 patch so I thought I'd take a look.

Sorry to state the obvious, but the FAQ/metathread is now well out of date, and there is nowhere for a newbie to pick up an overview of what's going on - all the active threads are incredibly detailed.

I'd just like to know some basic stuff like:

1. Will there actually be a 1.06 patch or are the devs just interested in views and ideas for possible changes? If there will be, is there any kind of ETA?

2. Is there a current beta and if so what has changed from 1.05?

3. What sort of changes are in and out of scope? For example, someone mentioned "Johan's 'won't do' list" - it would be really good to see this list stickied in this forum. This will help newbs like me avoid annoying the rest of you by repeating something that's been argued about thousands of times before (don't forget there is NO search function to help us avoid this).

Hope I haven't offended anybody - I love this game and would love to see what changes are planned,

Currently, there is a maelstorm of ideas rolling about, but no post 1.05 beta yet. There definitely will be a 1.05 beta at some point, which would indicate that there probably will be 1.06 as well at some point, but any kind of ETA for the latter is pure speculation. For measure, you may think about the time span between 1.04a and 1.05 or in other games, between 1.08 and 1.09 in EU2 or 1.03 and 1.04 in Vicky.
