Hey guys....this is my first post although I've been reading the FAQs and posts for a while. I've been playing for probably a year now but from what I read in this forum, my style of playing is much different than everyone else. For example, look at my most recent game, which I played as Sweden...

EU2Final.bmp

In all of my games so far (England, Spain, Austria, Muscovy, Sweden, and Byzantium) I have conquered all of Europe. With Spain and Sweden, I got 11,000 VPs both times. Everyone here seems to worry about BB status but, clearly, I don't pay any attention to that. I don't believe in vassals and I rarely do not annex a country when given the opportunity. Does anyone else have GC games that look like mine? I played that Sweden game on Very Hard with a Furious Attack rate and it was still really easy.

Denmark was a joke. My war with Muscovy was easy because the AI was stupid enough to leave a 50,000 man army be-seiging Ingermanland in the snow, which caused them to lose 30,000 men and cleared my way to victory. Next was the Tuetonic Order, which was a joke as well. Poland-Lithuania offered no resistance and Austria was the first time that I actually had a challenge. Thankfully though I fought Austria in 1618 and Gustav Adolphus just destroyed them. The Ottomans offered LITERALLY no resistance and while they were at around 20 Land Tech, I was near 45. It was a slaughter. By the time I faced France I was commanding nearly 500,000 troops so they didn't stand a chance. My war against Spain started in 1800 and I was able to land nearly 300,000 troops on their mainland. After that it was all over. FYI - England and the Netherlands were my allies. Hence their survival.

So I dunno maybe its just me....but is this game too easy for anyone else? I mean, the AI is just ridiculously incompetent. They send all of their armies to be-siege one province, even if the attrition rate it at 30. I just sit back and wait and then destroy them. I've conquered the world with Byzantium on Very Hard and I'm not sure what else to try. Perhaps playing with Genoa might prove a difficulty.

i think if you turn up the difficulty level you will find that BB status becomes more of a relevant concern. Also, you might try a tougher country than Sweden, e.g. virtually any country in the game. :p

I played as Byzantium once and even with them I conquered France, Spain and Austria. I wish I kept my picture from that game but I accidentally deleted it :(

Replace Byzantium with France and you will have a list of easiest countries in EUII. Why don't you try and play much smaller or far away countries like Navarra, Granada, Savoy, german or italian minors, or even Malacca or the Iroquois...

I think Granada could be a good choice. It isn't a powerful nation but it does have 3 state cultures( arabic, berber, iberian) so it would probably be a pretty fun nation. Iberian and Arabic culture cover a good amount of provinces

I think you need to try a non european nation. European minors can of course be challenging in the early years, but once one has expanded them a bit they arent much harder to play than the major powers. (As your byzantium game showed). Otherwise I suggest roleplaying instead of just going the shortest way for power.

I am interested to know from which year is that map.
If year is 1500 this is fantastic if is 1800 this is nothing.
I got one game where you can walk from Gibraltar to China sea and not leave my state ( Burgundy ). Year has been 1750 and game level normal.

Well, not all of us have a solid internet connection and a predictable schedule enough to partipate in MP.

But by all means, try smaller countries or upping the difficulty level. I've recently taken up playing Portugal and the Papal States (my previous favorites being England, France, OE, Muscovy and Novgorod) and am surprised how much that alone has increased the difficulty.

For those that find world conquest too easy, I highly recommend scenarios with challenging pre-specified historical objectives.

For example, as Brandenburg, try to unify the German people by 1819 in the AoM.

Or as Sweden in the Spanish Succession scenario try to conquer Poland and Russia by 1718.

I've been playing a year and a half--almost entirely Sweden AoM and only now am beginning to get bored.

My next will be France AoM with the objective of attaining her "natural frontiers" control of Canada & the West Indies and the liberation of Jerusalem.

I don't think I'll be bored....

Playing on "furious" agressivness accually makes the game easier if you're a major (such as sweden) since the AI kills itself by non-stop warfare. If you're a minor however, it's harder, until you reach the stage where you are no longer minor.

1) Don`t play a European (Latin Tech) country. Too easy to hypertech, too many rich provinces around, sometimes too many ueberleaders.
2) try additional goals aside from "conquer everything". For example, try to play Tibet with the aim to convert as much of the world as possible (e.g. all of Asia) to Buddhism.

Another objective could be to never cross the BB line, on normal/normal for example, and try mods like AGCEEP.
In this case, you have to rely on vassal allies to grab land when you're very close to the BB limit and you must be very carefull in peace negociations... You can always force-vassalize but it's not an option when targetting France, Spain or England, if you want the new world to be in only one color (objective number 2) :)
Objective 3 : be elected HRE Emperor, of course not being the only one christian country :D
I almost did it with Bohemia in AGCEEP (objective 2 being really difficult with objective 1 ;) ). It was my best game ever, and I was very proud because the result was very "realistic" ... with more than 11 000 VPs

BTW, WC ending with 25 000 VPs and 500 BB or more as France in vanilla was not very funny... and VPs are irrelevant at this point.

I think I'm going to take everyone's advice and play as a non-European power. Even still, I thought Byzantium would be hard but it was only difficult until about 1450. Once you replace the Ottoman Empire you're on easy street for the rest of the game.

However, I've always wanted to play as Brandenburg and try to unify Germany. It's especially difficult because you don't get a single CB - except Magdeburg of course. I tried playing as China once but quickly lost interest when the event effects brought my revoltrisk to 20...

Anyone play as the Mameluks? They seem pretty interesting.
