Epitaphs needs some work

Real history of his short rule.
Cheated his wife, denounced his bastard son.
Imprisioned (twice) and tortured his wife when she got sick.
Imprisoned and blinded his firstborn daughter at the age of 2.
Imprisioned random council members for no real reason.
Murdered his first wife.
Married his lowborn lover.
Cannibalized his court marshal.
Revoked bishopric from a priest.
Was assasinated.

I had something similar with my own Byzantine start. I was a total nut case with Cruel, Wroth, Lunatic, and Paranoid but had the Zealous trait as well. I also managed to restore Sicily, Armenia and Jerusalem to the Empire's control (fighting many of the battles myself even), but the combination of which apparently qualified me as a "Godly ruler that wanted for not, and accomplished little" (or something to that effect).

Guessing that the epitaphs are based off of maybe two traits chosen at random.

If the dude was known as "the Tormenter" he probably didn't have a good public image...

I had the same issue, but the other way around. I was an amazing ruler, conquering and converting wast amounts of lands, ruling justly, never cheating, torturing or murdering anyone and the game called me a greedy sinner who will surely pay for his sins in the afterlife, just because I lost zealous from the immortality event chain later on and had a few bad traits, the game just denounced all my actual important achievements. I think the descriptions should focus more on the actual prestige, conquered land, reign length, wars won etc rather than traits, because it ends up silly like OPs or mine.

It's a great improvement but it does feel that deeds and accomplishments should have an affect, having a distinguished and long lived ruler who created the Empire of Britannia being remembered for eating too much, and hoping he burns in hell, is rather unfair. How are the traits weighted? I've also had tyrants remembered only for their temperance and praising their godliness, maybe a terrified and sycophant chronicler?

Nick names should be a certain factor in this. I had a ruler named "The Holy" and he was remembered as a man against god or something along these lines :/

This screen is a great improvement over the one from 2.5 but I think it still needs more.

Part of me wants them to move the text down and display both character's traits. Not more text just the trait's icons underneath the portrait.

And yea refine the text.

Half of his own council had -100 opinion with him. Everyone hated him. I made him just to test epithets because I was getting some weird bad ones for a characters that didn't really do anything evil (in ck2 terms).

This isn't too unrealistic, to be fair. There are plently of rulers in history who would have been described as tyrants if they had been less successful, but are instead described as master politicians who knew how to keep their uppity vassals in check.

I just imagine that the epitaph is all we've got 1,200 years later - a single source written by a single monk who may or may not have had a grudge against the deceased. In most cases so long as he had contributed to the Church and made a big bequest to the monastery in his will he would have got a good write up.
