So don't get me wrong, love the new expansion, with all the new diseases and ways to die from it. But I notice that my realm is getting alot of epidemics, alot of times nearly one after another ended. Sure the time period there's alot of epidemics, and also the new expansion still have to work out the balancing, but...

Why the heck are epidemics only spawning in my realm?

Is it just RNG giving me a hard time? I played for around 200 years and I observe the epidemics mapmode quite frequently, and its only my realm that's getting widespread epidemic that spans my entire empire. Other parts of the world only have epidemics that spread around 2-3 duchies at most.

I'm playing Byzantines from the earliest bookmark, so the epidemics starts like either one end of the empire or the other, then just consumes my entire realm. Look to France/Germany, no widespread epidemics. British Isles, nope. Middle east, hardly any. Greece + Anatolia? Death clouds everywhere. Is it possibly that Byzantine lands prosper more, so more epidemics? Because that's a real bummer...

RNG + development + prosperity + lack of hospitals.

So, yeah, early Byzantium's prosperity can make it hurt more than others. You'll see them other places, but they'll likely stay smaller and spread less in all those poor Western European areas. Spain and the Levant tend to see some action early game.

Aw, dang. I sure hope this counts as broken, because nearly non stop epidemics will probably destroy any realm.

I suppose I should try the 1066 bookmark, perhaps they're more balanced. Hopefully.
