Hre

Hi, rather minor issue:

Shouldn't the 1648 event cause the Swiss to leave the HRE? They don't in 1.07.

Why are HRE boundries hardcoded anyway? We can modify almost anything to make it ahistorical, so I find it a bit odd that the HRE borders cannot be changed by the player.

Anyway, the Swiss and Dutch both considered themselves as residing outside the empire before 1648, but for simplicity both should just be removed at 1648 when this was made formal. If afterward any other German nation that conquers these areas, they should be readmitted back into the HRE. I fail to see how this is so difficult, since when France conquers the western HRE those provinces leave the HRE, but if say Austria reconquered them, they revert back inside the red line.

Because it are hardcoded abilities of certain tags, which isn't the most flexible thing to change.

The Dutch work fine as is. It may not be perfect, but it's hardly worth the time to try to rework the entire model.

The Swiss do not work at all right now. Reomving them with the Italians seems like the simplest and easiest solution to implement.

Hmm, and if the Habsburgs win the 30YW. The swiss wouldn´t have had the option to leave then. But neither would the EoT come into effect, but that´s a long story..

It's not a question of forgetting. No-one has supported you on that, nor have you provided any supporting evidence.

About Dauphiné and Provence IIRC they were conquered by France before 1419 but until that time they belonged to the Kingdom of Burgundy, that was inherited by Konrad II.
Nevertheless, I'd rather prefer they were never restored to the empire (the ties among them and France are stronger than with Germany).

Dauphine is French at game start. French provinces can never be in the HRE. So the entire model would have to be reworked to allow Dauphine to be in the HRE. Makes no sense at all.
I think Provence would be nice, but it's not too important. Provence was part of the Empire - Charles V claimed it in 1520's when he invaded. It should leave the Empire with the Italians, and will leave de facto when France takes over anyway.

Still I think it's OK if it's excluded.

You misunderstand me.
Of course, a French Dauphiné should not be in HRE (French Crown don't recognize Emperor authority : "Le roi de France est empereur en son royaume" ), but Dauphiné was an old imperial province (buy by France in 1343).
IMHO, If France lost Dauphiné to the benefit of another country who recognise HRE, Dauphiné could return to HRE authority. (this is managed by French hardcoded capacity to withdraw imperial provinces off the Empire. This feature is already in game)

The country that France is most likely to lose Dauphine to is the Huguenots. Should they put that province in the Empire?

Sure it could be done, and I suppose if Provence is being changed it wouldn't be any more work. But practically it will hardly make any difference at all.

edit: Yes I did misunderstand you.

I just noticed this thread, and I would like to add the suggestion that if some general requirements are filled, then the HRE should be dissolved, or, that Austria and Prussia be kicked out of the HRE, and the HRE gets renamed "Confederation of the Rhine" in 1806 or somewhere around then, and that Austria and Prussia should become "Conderation Killers" like France. If Paris is ever controlled by anyone other than France, the Confederation of the Rhine should be changed into "German Confederation" and Austria and Prussia should be reincluded.

And why wasn't this included in the latest betas if it was suggested? This would have been a lot better than putting unrealistic straits in the English Channel

How is making a strait easier than changing a name?!!
