Entente Minor & Central Powers Minor

alternate history AAR

topics17and1816.jpg

Following Austria-Hungary's defeat in the Great War the people of Austra declared a republic, cut of all ties with the former monarchy, and in the new state the Habsburg family had no roles anymore.

The situation was different in Hungary: altough a people's republic, and later a soviet socialist republic was declared, later the conservative powers restored the Kingdom of Hungary. Altough, due to Entente pressure the Habsburg could not return to the throne, a regent was elected, the old general Miklós Horthy.

Austria lost her Czech and Gallizian lands, just like today's Slovenia, and South Tirol.

Hungary had lost even more: Transylvania, today's Slovakia that was called "Felvidék", Carpathian Ruthenia, lands from the south called "Délvidék" (Vojvodina), they lost their masterhood over Croatia, and they also had to pass western regions to Austria (Burgenland)

The Entente and the new neighbours were eagerly watching the two states, fearing their terrorities, and the return of the royal family.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend, people say. In this region: The neighbour of my neighbour is my friend. Bulgaria also had differences with Romania and Yugoslavia, also with Greece, who are enemies of the Turks. Albania was a lonely country, and their muslim culture brought them close to the Turks.
Hungary had traditionally good relations with Poland, the new republic, who had to watch both to the West and East: to nazi Germany and the communist Sovietunion. They also had good relations with the Baltic states, who were friendly to eachother, as well, just like with Finland.

Romania's, Czehslovakia's and Yugoslavia's alliance was strong to keep Hungary in check; the same was the goal between Yugoslavia, Greece and Romania to Bulgaria.

As Entente influence became weaker, the Hungarian pairlament decided the completely restore constitutional order: in 1926 they restored the bicameral Pairlament, and finally in 1931 the passed a law that the throne legally belongs to the Habsburg family. They invited Otto to the throne. A few months later the Hungarian government peacefully couped Austria, and Otto took his place as head of state there, too.

Countries in the region formed into blocks, as described above: Austria, Hungary, Poland, the Baltic States, Finland, Bulgaria, Turkey and Albania became known as Central Powers Minor; Romania, Czehslovakia, Yugoslavia, Greece became Entente Minor.

I will play with Central Powers Minor; Hungary.

Goals:

-Hungary:
restore the old empire: get Transylvania, the south regions from Yugoslavia, masterhood over Croatia; get the Slovakian lands, annex it or puppet.

-Austria:
restore the old empire: get the Czech lands, as puppet or annex it, the same for Slovenian lands. Possibly north Tirol unless we need Italy as an ally.

-Poland:
survive against the nazis and commies, grand Poland.

-Baltic states; Finland:
survive the Soviet threat, gain some lands.

-Bulgaria:
gain national terrorities from Yugoslavia, Romania, Greece.

-Albania:
get Albanian lands like Kosovo, parts of MAcedonia

-Turkey:
get some Greek lands, islands, possibly from Italy, if we don't need them as allies.

-Generally:
stop the nazi threat, create a democratic Germany, maybe with Austrian control from Vienna; stop the Soviet threat, democratic Russia under allied masterhood; Croatia as Hungarian puppet, their masterhood of Serbia, Montenegro; good relations with the Allies.

I will play with normal/normal, will possibly edit the files for Anschluss, Sudetenland events to raise the chance of fight as we're a strong alliance.

But... if you play with Hungary, why to select goals for the other mentioned countries? I giess they are beyond your control, aren't they? Sometimes I'm a bit thick, sorry...

Excellent beginning.

The War against Entente Minor

Czehslovakia

In the very early days of 1936 the Emperor decided it's time to completely restore the Empire: Central Powers Minor declared war on Entente Minor.

Hungary's main attacks gone against the north, today's Slovakia, as well as Poland's. Meanwhile, Yugoslavia won some battles in the south against Hungary, as well as against Austria.

While conquering the whole Felvidék/Slovakia, Hungarian generals run a spearhead offense and reached the outskirts of Praha by early February. You can also see the Yugoslavian advance against Austria and South-East Hungary.

Three days later Hungarian troops entered Praha, forced the government to resign, dissolved the Pairlament, and a just established, so called "Royalist Czeh Council" elected Otto as King of Czehslovakia. (technically i will edit the minister files i hope i can do, plus it would be fun to create a new country tag as Bohemia i don't know if it's worth the trouble...) They also accepted the right for Hungarian people in the south of Slovakia to return to their home country, as well as the "wish of Slovakian people to return to Kingdom of Hungary".

Now Hungary survived the three-front war, and they only have to run to the South to Yugoslavia, and to the East against Romania, along with their allies, helping Bulgaria, still surrounded by enemies.

Even if modding oneself his one game is awfully funny, in this case you should try the "Kaiserriech" mod.

Well done so far.

So is Yugoslavia or Romania next? Maybe Yugoslavia would be easier to invade, because your border with Romania is really mountainous. :)

I'd heed Storm's advice, those mountains always make Romania quite a tough nut to crack.. If you can tolerate their insolence until march-april it should become easier with the winter-bonuses being gone.

Also, Habsburg! :D

i guess the Yugos... i will go along with Austria and will see if we liberate Slovenia or not ( maybe it would be fair to give it to Austria if i kept Slovakia :p) but i wanna liberate the other small nations, under Croatian masterhood.

As for Romania i only want Tranylvania from them but maybe for the Poles don't feel bad, they might get something: Romania as puppet. I might let the Poles and Bulgaria do this job :)

i know i will have to edit the files or use the acceptall cheat to make order but see it as a peace conference ;)

Now pray for me that Bohemia will be a fine Bohemia with Otto :D

everything is fine but they have no ministers only Otto :( plus no leaders... i guess i just kill my future games and change Czehslovakia to Bohemia :p

edit: finally it's done, Otto is the king of BOHEMIA! i had to kill the otehr guy so he will be out of future games and Czehslovakia will be runnin like Bohemia. never mind i will reinstall the game after that!

The War against Entente Minor

South

After crashing some partisans, still loyal to the old government in the Sudeten the allied armies turned their attention to the South: Poland was attacking Romania, while Austria-Hungary started the liberation of Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia, Délvidék/Vojvodina.

55164600ko6.png

In the mid of May, even the capital, Beograd fell. Only the occupied Albanian, and the Macedonian lands remaind in Yugoslavian hands.
Altough there was a strong resistence in MAcedonia and Albania, Central Powers and Entente forces were standing face to face in the poor region of the Balkans.

35658229ai2.png

35094796bf6.png

Meanwhile, Turkish landing ships defeated and soon forced to surrender the Greek army; Romania was beaten badly by the Poles:

62988094pp9.png

Finally allied troops captured Tirana and Skopje, the two last strongholds of Yugoslavia: the pan-slavic country collapsed. Greece surrendered, after all their main provinces were captured, especially by Turkish marines. Romania was fighting desperately, without a hope of victory, so they finally decided to sign a peace, allowing them to have some provinces. Even Constanca, at the anger of the Bulgarians.

Now it's time for the allies to meet and decide on the fate of the Balkans. This will be the Zagreb Conference.

This looks like an interesting AAR to get back into commenting with. The premise is sound and the first war interesting. I will be curious to see what the peace conference brings. Good work.
