The French seem to be avoiding stereotypes in this AAR -- nice to see.
That's exactly what I was thinking.

Vann the Red Indeed, the French are doing well, and we have captured even more land

Terraferma Yes, they might indeed regret it

Draco Rexus Yes, in this AAR Leclerc is actually playing a very important role, and is one of the best French generals. And he did pretty well in real life also so I though it is nice to give him so credit

Adaptation Yes, this time the French are doing well :)

stnylan Indeed, i never though Stalin would be working for charity ;)

J. Passepartout Oh yes in this times cold war the Allies stand stronger a than in real life I think

lifeless Indeed. Although it was very surprising, never seen the AI make such a peace before, but it was very nice of them

lifeless That will be taken care off

GhostWriter Indeed it was. Thanks

GeneralHannibal Not by the Soviets, but by Mongolia….

J. Passepartout Well I guess we can say that is an impressive achievement

Draco Rexus Indeed, sir :D

J. Passepartout Maybe he will. Oh don’t worry one can’t remember everything…

Nehekara Thanks. Very glad to have you onboard, and I am glad that you enjoy the story. After Japan has been defeated I have actually never made any plans, but we shall see. I know a lot of the readAARs wants to do something about the Soviets, so we shall see…

Kurt_Steiner Indeed, it did well. It made a good contribution to the defeat of the IJN

Earth's Savior And it is good that they are doing their part :)

Nehekara Ask and you shall receive…

Alright we return to the Home Islands. As you will see Patton once more races forward and the part about Eisenhower being angry at him was actually me angry at the American AI. I wanted to see Norwegian forces capture Tokyo just as we captured Berlin, but well… at least it is in Allied hands.

Enjoy

The race to Tokyo

On the morning of the 16th of July the operation later known as the race to Tokyo began when the Norwegian Marines once more moved forward together with a large American force. The Allied forces were leaving the southern Home Islands behind and moved north towards Tokyo. At the same time in the north of the Home Islands more American forces were landing, General Eisenhower’s nine divisions arrived on the beaches of Akita unopposed while General Patton’s six divisions faced only minor opposition in Sendai from one Japanese division. The Japanese were quickly forced backwards and by the 21st of July the Americans had full control in the north.

pattonakitazi9.jpg

General Patton’s force of six divisions quickly destroyed all resistance in Akita and started the race towards Tokyo

In Osaka the Norwegian Marines and their American allies were facing more resistance than the Americans had faced in the north. In Nagoya the Japanese had three divisions guarding the frontline, and trying to stop the Allies from reaching Tokyo. When the Allies first attacked on the 16th the attack was repulsed after three days of hard fighting. The American soldiers had fought hard and most objectives had been secured, but due to several bad judgments by some of their officers in the 8th Pathfinder Divisions they had not been able to fulfil their objective in the operation and this made it necessary to halt the attack and dig in. Thinking they had defeated the Allies the Japanese quickly launched a counterattack against the Norwegian positions, but having fought against Japanese soldiers from the start of the war, the Norwegians were some of the best units in the Allied forces, and the Norwegians quickly defeat the Japanese counterattack. On the 23rd the attack was restarted, the incompetent officers that had destroyed everything in the last attack had been shipped home to the States and this time the Norwegians and the Americans soon brook through. But the days lost would soon prove to be the factor that decided the race for Tokyo.

To the north Eisenhower’s forces continue to move forward unopposed and on the 26th of July Eisenhower’s forces captures Niigata. Eisenhower, as the general responsible for the invasion of the Home Islands, decided to halt his army to allow for a more co-ordinated strike on Tokyo. Seeing that the Norwegians and more Americans are moving into Nagoya, and that Patton is fighting against more garrisons for the control over Fukushima Eisenhower decided not to rush his attack on Tokyo, but instead attack on a broad front and from several sides. Also wanting to get more air support for the upcoming operation Eisenhower decided that Kanazawa should also be captured before the attack on Tokyo begins, and therefore an order arrived in the Norwegian headquarter on the 5th of August to begin an attack against the province. The very next morning the Norwegians moved forward facing only a single Japanese division.

The Norwegian Marines quickly defeated all resistance in Kanazawa.

The same morning, the 6th of August, Patton’s six armoured divisions moved into Fukushima, but Patton reluctant to halt and wait decided not to listen to Eisenhower’s orders, later stating that he never received the orders, the general quickly moved his forces forward once again and on the 7th he began the attack against Tokyo. Eisenhower, not knowing about Patton’s continued attack continued to make preparations for the large attack on Tokyo and had decided to begin the attack on the 15th of August. On the 8th American forces moved into Nagoya, encircling Tokyo. As the rest of the Allied army moved into position Patton is preparing to move into Tokyo. Almost screaming his forces forward, determined to be the first Allied general in Tokyo Patton several times put himself into direct danger by commanding forces from the frontline, a danger that is made very clear when two of Patton’s aids were shot by snipers during the attack. Still Patton’s plan worked out.

Soldiers from Patton’s army with a captured Japanese flag. They would be the first Allies to enter Tokyo

On the 11th of August 1944 General Patton drove into Tokyo. Japanese citizens watched in shock as the American forces marched through the city with Patton at the front. The Japanese leadership had escaped just the day before by boat heading for China, but the Emperor was still present in Tokyo and it was the Emperor who surrendered the city and the Home Islands to Patton. Eisenhower when hearing from Patton that Tokyo had already been secured was first angry on Patton for his reluctance from following orders, but as he was happier about having secured the Home Islands little word of the incident arrived in Washington. The Allies had won in the Home Islands.

A Japan partitioned between the USA and Norway does make one raise the eyebrows slightly - but nothing more than that considering Germany.

Japan is finished, and this leaves only one opponent of democracy...

Somehow I doubt Patton is going to take the same attitude to the Emperor's position that MacArthur took. Rebellion in the Home Islands, perhaps?

Taking the home islands went pretty well it seems,I am a bit disappointed in the japs though. Patton has acted foolishly, chasing glory like that, I hope he will pay for his insolent behaviour!

Hey, you all just leave good ol' George alone, ya'hear? He's just doing a soldier's duty in ending the war as quickly as he can.

Which, with his capture of the Emperor has just about been done. Nice job, Lord E. Now, we simply have Uncle Joe to deal with. And I feel slightly apprehensive about this encounter. :(

And because of an incredible lack of common sense and logic, I`ll pretend that your "vote", was a vote for me as lifetime dictator. Now I`m one step closer to world domination! :D

I hope you excuse me extended absense, E-man. I am glad to be back more regularly and able to check up on what you have been writing.

Well, it appears as if you have stretched the Norwegian war effort to extraordinary limits in making it such a tenacious and active partner in the alliance. The Germans and the Japanese shall have nothing but regret for believing that taking Norway on would be such a walkover. Will Norway hand over her conquests to another power or will she assume the burden of administration and democratisation herself? :)
