I don't think the calendar is something I'd like Johan and gang spending their time changing instead of some other things. ;) I'm sure they had a reason to to make all the months have 30 days anyways.

I think making certain planes unusable on carriers would be more trouble than it would be worth. Each type of plane and carrier is generic, so saying a "B-29" couldn't take off of a carrier is a moot point. :)

I like the improvements you suggest for the air missions... binding certain air groups to armies would be very useful, as well as some kind of auto-management for air units (tactical strike on such and such a province as often as possible, etc.).

Another thing that would be useful would be to be able to put planes on transports to move them around. Just make them loadable (very slowly... they don't 'fly' onto the transports), but not usable once on the transports. Then when you unload (slowly, again) their organization starts again at 0 and grows like a new unit. :) Already suggested I know, but I'm just trying to consoliate ideas for aircraft into one thread. ;)

A couple of enhancements I would like to see:

In the combat display it would be great if we could see what sides are affected by the various factors. As it is now we can see that its night, that someone is surrounded, that it rains etc etc. Most of these are pretty straightforward, and it is no problem to understand who is affected by what. But there are other factors that is harder to see which side is affected by. As an example of such a factor, there is a symbol saying that one of the leaders is commanding too many units, and this has lead to an organization penalty.

I would like to see other colors when using counters mode. As it is now, pretty much all of neutral europe have the same colours.

It would be great if the recon report you get when you hover with the mouse over a unit could include the nationality of the unit.

Paradox has to get trade agreements into the game as this is a very important piece of the economic side. As it is, I'm (as Germany) forced to going to war w/ Sweden and Romania for their resources even though they're strongly in my political camp because this functionality is not in place.

I think that's in. In the upper right corner in the overview of your army there's a small fist icon, hovering over it gives you the army's strength. Clicking it will re-inforce them all. :)

Yet another hidden feature that HOI has. :D

It's like reading a really good mystery novel that never ends!

Also, Cast locked my thread. :(

That sure seems like a bug to me...
Don't tell me it's WAD? There should simply be a box that says "You can't unload onto this province"... making the troops seeminly unload without actually doing is just ain't right...

Currently it is to easy to take countrys through the backdoor. Basicly I took most of russia with Japan by using only 2 cav units. They where out of supply (maybe winter hexes, not sure) but i keept renewing their supply when it hit 50 by clicking on the button, and they just gobbled up pretty much all of russia to moscow. The implementation of Freedom Fighter or Militia in non guarded occupied hexes should be implemented.

Example. You move with you Army Corp into a Hex, the hex changes to your country, but it is basicly occupied, not really yours yet till the country is annexed. If you now choose to move out of the hex, there should be a daily increasing chance that the population with the help of Freedom Fighters and such will create a militia unit that of course takes the hex back automaticly.

This would stop the 1 unit conquer of entire continenents, as you would have to keep a single unit in occupied areas to avoid spawning of militia, and cutting of your supply line.

Also Tactical and Strategic Missions should reduce after combat is finished the OP of the unit by an additional 25% of the total capable. This would hopefully curb the increadible super Tactical Pre War Bomber raids that can kill even SuperHeavyTank units (would love to see a movie about this guy in a WWI BI- Wing Bomber chucking 50 pound bombs at a division of KingTigers.)

Reinforcements should take a certain amount of time to take effect, dependant upon the distance from a home province.

This would prevent the former event from occuring, since you could only reinforce the cavalry in a very slow manner, allowing it time to be killed from attrition. ;)

Improvments

Here comes a few improvments I'd like to see:

- Have a reset for the CCB. When I order a infantry to attack a enemy province I get a ETA. Then when I select my bombers for some pre attack bombing (several days ahead) they also have the same ETA (as the infantry). I'd like to see a splitup... so that the Infantry are using "one set of CCB", while the airplanes has a diffrent one.

- After I ordering my tactical bombers for a tactical bombing mission, my fighters have the same assignment automaticly. Would be nice to always have the fighers default assignment as Intercept.

- Sometimes its impossible to get the bombers to attack. They wont lift. Even if you know that 3 hours is more then enough to reach the target area, they won't lift. I first have to move my bombers to a friendly provice, then attack a diffrent enemy province... then when they return I can attack my original planned province. This quite annoying I think. Don't know why this happens.

- It would be nice, in the research screen, to see how good a unit is. Now I must build a unit before I can see its stats. Would be very good if I in the research screen could compare the diffrent tanks. Like... Ahh, the 30mm tank is good enough, now i don't have to wait until I have researched the 40 mm tank before I can build my panzer army.

- Great Britain and USA needs to get more aggresive. They are only spectators.

- Russia always to very bad in the begining of the war. Germany, with the support of several other countries push long into russia. But in one game, the Russians counterattacked in 44 I think and took back most of the land.

-Increase the Swedish steel output and decrease the coal output.

Weird war entry

I am playing an very aggresive italy, have conquered: albania, etiopiha, jugoslavia, greece, romania, bulgary and spain by april 37. What is weird is that the war entry for uk and france drop for every aggresive move I do. Now they have around -50. The USA has more! They have around 0.
I am not part of the axis so I think every aggresive move a "neutral" makes lowers the war entry for democracies. Nice if it's sweden annexing Norway, or something similiar. But italy going rampage all around the med should get their attention.

Or else I can thank Hitler for making them nervous so they don't see what little italy is doing? ;)

Make message settings sticky. The way it is now I have to change all the message settings every time I start a new game.

We should be able to transport all types of aircraft on cargo ships.

Islandhopping = Walking=Blah!

I iust got done fighting Japan with my Brazilian Juggernaught. One thing that really annoyed me. Transports are not needed to go from one island chain to another one if they are next to each other. Some examples Truk and Caroline are right next to each other and are two different zones and your infantry can just walk to the next island chain. Or Guam and the island chain north of it. And then when I invade Japan itself it happens all over again. I control the main island and they control the northern islands. They have 25 capital ships in the water and my troops can just walk to the northern islands unopposed. Bah! Please fix this. Having infantry walk on water just ruins the feel of this game for me since i want to play alot of pacific campaigns.

Just a couple of suggestions here.

There are some fo you talking about reallocating IC's and resources. One example is to up the IC's in Belfast and Glasgow and lower the IC's in Dublin. Now when thining about IC's and resources Histoircal accuracy was no the only consideration there were two others. One is balance you need to blance the number of IC's and resources againsts the cost of things (will increasing the UK may it too strong) and against other nations. The second is playabilty, Saudi Arabia is given some Coal, Iron and IC's (even though it had none of these) just so that someone wanting play that country can at least do something. This is not an absolutly perfect system but balance and playablilty must considered as well as historical accuracy.

That takes me to another suggestion about island chains and invasions. Some of the island chains are linked together to reduce the micro management aspects of invading. Rather that having a new invasion supply convoy ect. ect. for every single island (which would be a real pain for all but the hard core fan) some where linked together to make the game easier to play. Again Historical accuracy must be wieghed against playabilty.

German Unit Names

Is there anyway to get Paradox to allow for historical naming of German Units?

Germany is by far the most played country.

It is a REAL hassle to rename every 1st Arm. Division to 1. Panzer Division (and so on)

Can we please get REAL german unit names?

I think most of the following are accurate:

Land Forces:

Militia: Volksgrenadier Division
Infantry: Infanterie Division
Motorized Infantry: Infanterie Division (mot)
Mountain Division: GeBirgs Division
Mechanized Infantry: Panzergrenadier Division
Armor Division: Panzer Division
Cavalry Division: Kavallarie Division
Airborne Division: Fallschirm-Jager Division
Marine Division: Marine Infanterie Division

Airforces:
Single-engine Fighter Wings: Jagdgeschwader (JG)
Twin-engine Fighter Wings: Zerstörergeschwader (SKG)
Bomber Wings: Kampfgeshwader (KG)
Tactical Bomber Wings: Sturzkampfverbände (StG)
Transport Wings: Kampfverbände z.b.V. (TG)

Higher HQ:
Army Group: Heeresgruppe
Amry: Armee
Armor Army: Panzer-Armee
Armor Group: Panzergruppe
Corps: Armeekorps
Armor Corps: Panzerkorps
Mountain Corps: Gebirgs-Armeekorps

"Infantry walking on water" for adjacent islands is accurate: transports were not required for island operations where the next island is in range of landing craft and barges. The troops just get in the landing craft and barges and motor over; one of my relatives did this several times.

Don't try this long distances over the ocean though. :)

Examples:

I rebased two transports loaded with paras (15K+ of troops) from Berlin to Sicily and they were imeadiately ready for an airborne assualt on Malta.

The US entrs the war. The next day the US long range bombers ar hitting Germany.

However, while a plane can surely fly 100s or even 1000s of miles in a few hours, the support crews and the logistical tail can not logicaly be redployed magically.

PLEASE change the org. of the aircraft to zero after rebasing to simulate this.

NA 1.01 version.

I guess this should have gone here.

As for the Saudi Arabia coal/iron/IC thing, make the game and all the resources in it accurate, and to the devil with "balance." This is supposed to be a historical World War II game, not a fantasy game (Shire calendar and such notwithstanding).
